Surely, if a General Election is called, then it really would be no deal Brexit?

Before this, HM the Queen would have to dissolve the present parliament, meaning that no further business could be transacted.

A general election then takes 6 weeks to organise, so this would take us well past the Article 50 extension date, and into a no-deal situation by default.

When her deal is defeated tomorrow, a new approach will need to be made to the EU for a further extension.

If we tell them we are having a general election, peoples vote or some other such route to a no brexit scenario, they will bite our hands off and give us a long extension.

We would have to fight the Euro MP elections but its a small price to pay to cancel this disaster.

Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha.

They're not going to allow a member to leave and prosper or won't be fair on other EU members

"They're not going to allow a member to leave and prosper / it's common sense"!

Not punishment?!!!!

We might be able to "leave and prosper". In the long term. But you're happy to suck up to those that won't allow us to? Please never return to these shores.

Not sure how many times I need to say the same thing.

1 - Make it hard, to deter others.
2 - Make it not immediately successful economically for the leaver, to deter others.

If it's such a great club, why ?

There is no comment about the greatness of the club, simply what their motivations are.

Every situation in life involving negotiations can be broken down to motivations.
