I love your idea of getting your excuses out before the elections have even taken place

Headbanger here who is willing compromise as long as we can take back our sovereignty and control our own borders and are free to make our own trade deals

They aren't though excuses. No-one wanted these elections! They are an embarrassment and if we end up, as seems likely, with a bunch of disruptive MEPs representing us, doubly so.

The only nation wide elections that matter are for a GE.

So you are willing to compromise so long as you get everything you want? Doesn't seem too much of a compromise to me!

There is a long tradition of migrant workers here in the farming industry so perhaps that helps. The difference maybe is that the migrants here mostly have whitish skins and go to Churches and not to Mosques.

Usmaan's family came to London from Bangladesh in the 1930s. He's Muslim and proud of his Asian heritage. But he's equally "a proud East Ender" who misses his white mates who have up and left. As he sees it, there's no turning back for the East End.

Ten years' time, maybe not even that, there will be absolutely no trace of cockney culture. No trace of British culture... Everything this area stood for is being eradicated, slowly but surely. - Usmaan

Well, once Cornwall becomes 98 percent Muslim, I'm sure the wonderful 2 percent of Cornish hospitality will still prevail...

Never, known anybody to talk so much s*** in my life...

Tell a lie PP AND SW19 fall into that category.

Yeah right. If you think your neighbours regard you as one of their own then you’re fooling yourself.
I was in Cornwall 20 years ago and my mate (who is black) was routinely ignored when trying to get served in pubs. Very open and welcoming I must say.

If we had voted to remain by a small margin Parliament's hand would have been strengthened in any future attempts to achieve the reforms needed with the EU and in negotiating future opt outs.

So whilst no formal compromise would have happened because the status quo would have prevailed it would have had consequences.

As would us deciding to remain now because we would only do so on the basis that EU reform is placed on the agenda.

We had a referendum because the EU would NOT listne to Cameron, may tried to get a deal and got shafted.
When will the idiots realise the EU are sharks and only want our money.

I voted for Brexit meaning that I wanted to be out of the EU in every way. I didn't vote to be half in and half out

Again, how is this constant stream of amoebic dross any different from PP similar levels of perceived nonsense

It's 'know'. And again, for the thousandth time, stop trying to claim you speak for everyone that voted leave. It's complete and utter tripe. The Leave vote was split. Some thought like you, some didn't. If you need to do so to give yourself some kind of false sense of security or a wet comfort blanket, then fine. But do me a favour and keep it to your own internal monologue and then get over it and post something relevant.

So you confirm what I hinted at. It isn't the fact that there are new people there (which has always been so by the way) but that it is a particular type of new person you object to. Specifically, Muslims.

A question for those of you who want a second vote with Remain as an option.

Do you not have any worries about the damage it would do to the faith people have in voting? I am geuninely puzzled at how so many people who want a second stab at the Remain cherry are so blase about the potential fall out.

Or is your opinion of those of us who voted Leave so low that you don't think the undermining of our belief in democracy is worthy of any consideration?

I genuinely don't think I have heard/seen or even read of a single prominent Remainer apologising for wanting us to have to vote again on an issue we were assured would be settled on June 23rd.

^^^ This is probably the most reasoned post on here in the last 300 or so.

I recently heard a minister describing a second vote as being akin to telling your partner that you want a divorce for the last 3 years, only to then say "despite running you down publicly..I've now changed my mind, i'm staying whether you like it or not and we're going to carry on as if it never happened"

Imagine how the EU will treat us if we did overturn the vote?

They would have a member within it that they don't want, and which large parts of the members' own populus don't want, slowly tearing itself apart with riots on the streets and anarchy.

The event horizon has already been crossed, whether or not we like to pretend otherwise.

I wonder how many of us remainers are/have been in loveless relationships preferring to keep the status quo rather than making a break for it?
