The BBC are saying there's talk of a cabinet move against May.

You end with the old, 'unlucky' monologue.....well sure.....luck is a huge part of life....by far the biggest determinate.

Free will is questionable in its degrees of reality and in more ways than one we are all slaves to our genes.

I didn't really regard your previous divisions as anything more than elitist stereotypes......elements of truth that ignore why these things happen....but that's ok.....You were having your whinge like everybody else.

Stevey Yaxley-Lennon, of course!

To summarise my ramblings, it's really a question of ability to perceive the pros and cons of the world around you and then self-created advantage or disadvantage as a result of your own choices.

This along with 'Brexit will not solve all your perceived ills', which to a lot of people on this forum it seems to be the be all and end all.

I also agree that not everyone is born equal (obvious) but I was being slightly facetious, as usually I get told that they are every time I mention the opportunity of a rich person vs a working class person vs a person with no father living on the bread-line. Too nuanced perhaps.

I see nothing changing in the long term even if the wildest wet dreams of Brexiteers on here comes to pass. At least, not because of Brexit. Power is power and it has been for millennia. If you want your personal circumstance to change for the better because you didn't apply yourself, that's your problem.

Work your way out of it against the restrictions that have been imposed onto you, upskill, instead of going down the pub and moaning about it. Those restrictions will then begin to fall away the more you progress. Or, put your money where your mouth is and start a revolution, properly. Monk levels of dedication, not just cocking about your entire life then confessing at the last minute. Your choice, really.

Automation, Globalisation as change? Certainly, as we've discussed before, but with different opinions.

As mentioned I respect those that decide to take paths that are more morally and ethically advantageous at the expense (no pun intended) of financial and usually therefore power/social advantage, and a better life. No doubt it is selfless, but how much do you really want to suffer? That is the crux of the matter.

I'm just saying that the way things are, that approach is not logical or rational in any way if you want to have a vaguely fulfilling life.

In a better system Doctors and teachers would be paid more than bankers. But we are where we are, so why the hell wouldn't you cut your cloth accordingly?

To me it's just another example of the bourgeoisie defending acting like Alan B'Stard while claiming to be Rik......neo liberal nihilism....personally for what it's worth I think people should practice what they preach.

I agree with the above, but it takes a special type of person to practice what they preach when the personal cost is so high. These people are rare

I also agree on luck – hence my caveat at the end, but at least give yourself the best chance in life by doing as much as you can, at least then all you can curse is your own rotten luck. Also, on luck – it's mainly how you respond to things out of your control that make you, not the the things themselves. Bad s*** is always going to happen.

In other words don't use Brexit as a cure all, or if you're a remainer, a reason for despair, look at yourself.

As you know the remain vote will be split and the leave vote will generally go to Farage, but we can certainly look at the totals once everything is counted up.

What it tells me in general is that the groundswell that became attached to the Brexit movement in 2016 is continuing on at pace. Farage in his affluent pad in Chelsea, fresh from his latest business class trip to the States, has become the ultimate supporter of the common man, just like billionaire Donald Trump.

He rails against the establishment and the elites.

Some people genuinely believe that with a vote for Brexit, and now a vote for the brexit party, they are emulating "V" from "V for Vendetta" and becoming some kind of anti-elitist crusader who will tear down the fabric of this unfair society which caters to elites only and then eagerly donning their guy fawkes mask, will march on parliament to observe it being blown up.

Many, many people in England are unhappy with their lot in life. Rightly or wrongly Brexit became their calling card and EU membership was the dragon which must be slain, to return to the glory of bygone times when the British Empire imperiously ruled.

Foreigners became the problem which has to be solved, which if solved, would usher in a new dawn in Britain and make everyone native born's life better, happier, healthier and richer.

Brexit has become the silver bullet to solve all of life's problems.

Dont get me wrong, I know there are huge issues with inequality and poverty, and that the amount of people who want to migrate to the UK definitely causes issues.

In the simple mind, Brexit will fix all of these issues, and once we finally reach the promised land of non EU membership, everything will be so much better, cleaner, and nicer.

Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha.

I didn't state it as a fact though. I gave my opinion on what I thought it was. Are you really unable to tell the difference?

[Will you stop stating the obvious...

I wasn't. I was stating a fact that appeared to have escaped you

It's called whining wisbech

Only by people who think any opinion other than their own equals "whining"

[No I'm just on the ball unlike you...
I'll give you the first three numbers you can speculate what the other three will be...
1,2,3.

Oh please! Rarely have I ever encountered someone so far off the ball as you. To suggest that Brexit is a done deal is just ridiculous. Even the most stupid of the stupid can see that is what all the mess is about.

Wrong again - whining most definitely coming from you

Is an opinion. Good for you. You know mine.

It's good for you to read and learn the opinions of others.

Broadens the mind and might even change it.

True, a small number of people are born winners, some born losers and the rest.....populate the bbs boards.

Sure, I agree....it's like Trump in the US. He's nothing but a delay, an enjoyable one for the politically incorrect like myself but essentially it's nothing more than a rebel yell....A two fingers from a sinking ship.

Yep, one of the inherent problems with hierarchical systems. As for the nuance, it's a topic that could cover several books so a nod of acknowledgement is sufficient from me I hope.

Yep...apply ourselves, I'd agree with a lot of that...for sure, mind you if the middle classes allowed social mobility to actually happen instead of filling up all the opportunities with 'nice but dim' Tim and Jane it might be better than a soundbite......but that isn't going to happen is it.

Not only that but the working class have to operate under the class bias and preference given to 'diversity' instead of pure merit.

I was a teacher, I have no concept of a vaguely fulfilling life.

That said, there's much to agree with and as usual it's an excellent post.
