When they say Public Sector they only mean NHS staff, Teachers and Armed Forces. The "Whitehall" Departments (for example Border Force) have been offered 1% which is what they have had for the last 10 years or so.

Yep, it seems to be aimed at where they have a recruitment crisis.

Trying to solve with tax payer money problems that have nothing to do with wages......and, in terms of teaching the bureaucracy that created the problems has come from politicians.....several Education secretaries have lied about reducing bureaucracy and have done effectively nothing.

As for the forces, what right minded working class lad would want to fight for this shower.....it's of little surprise that enough aren't signing up.

Totally agree. Interestingly though, in Border Force they can recruit but not retain. This is mainly due to awful shift patterns, p*** poor management and lack of any wage rises. It really is a false economy as they spend thousands on training but fail to address the retention issues

A ton of that money did come back in the form of Grant's etc.
Farmers,fisherman,town centre regeneration etc.
Is that still going to be allocated from the savings.
A bit harsh if not especially on the industries and towns and cities that benefitted and probably have ongoing applications.

The UK will be getting none of the money that it pays into May's exit deal back. We do rightly owe it so should pay, but if the EU wont give us a deal there will be no mechanism for us to pay so they'd have to claim it from us.

Yep, sounds like a repeating pattern in the public sector.....governments create extra problems with almost criminally stupid long term policies and then expect the public services to cope.

Yeah, that seriously wouldn't surprise any of us at this point.

Tell them to apply to Ocean Finance.

Do we? I thought the House of Lords looked at this and said we didn't.

I keep hearing that there is no one in the EU to negotiate with us until Nov 1. I have 2 responses to that.

1. The EU set the current deadline May had requested a different one so if there really is no one at home that's their fault they chose the date.

2. Political decisions of this size are ultimately made by the key governments of the EU the EU commission is the monkey. It would appear that Boris is talking to the organ grinders. It doesn't mean a deal will happen but if Boris and these 5 governments can agree they will tell the EU commission to do the paperwork.

My wife is a nurse and it's exactly the same in nursing. The media complain that it's the low wages but that's not true as everyone entering the professions knows exactly what they will get paid.

It's the poor management and treatment of staff as assets rather than people that causes nurses to leave.

After 10 years in one hospital my wife left as she was sick of the annual arguments about holidays as despite being entitled to seven weeks holiday a year the ward manager wanted her to take them one week at a time and never during the school holidays.

She moved to another hospital where they are somewhat more enlightened over holidays but the management is poor in other areas
