She isn't getting involved. Trump is and she is reacting to that involvement. If he wasn't trying to oil the no deal Brexit wheels with the snake oil of an "easy to obtain" trade deal she would have no need to point that it isn't going to happen.

There are not many socially conservatives left in the party. Boris certainly isn't.

It has never "lurched left". It very sensibly claimed the centre ground for a long time, which is essential for any party which wants to actually do things and not just talk about doing things.

Just as Labour has swung left and put in Corbyn as a reaction to the Tories, so the Tories have swung right as a reaction to Farage.

Neither now command the centre so both are destined to retreat while other, more moderate parties grow. Coalition is our future for some time. The Tories were always a coalition, but under one roof. Now they are going through a long drawn out and acrimonious divorce.

By making any sort of comment she has become involved surely?

They can, trust me. Try looking at the rates of food related illness by country. Slaughter houses are, of course, not places for the squeamish.

Link? What is the % per population? Maybe the amount of those living in poverty has something to do with this

FFS. How many times do I have to do this. Multiple threads. I’ll find you something.

I work with a poultry farmer, the place is like a laboratory. Change clothing upon entry, not allowed to interact with poultry outside, scrupulously clean, regular external checks. They lost 100s of thousands of birds when they had one rogue sample containing salmonella. They can’t afford to breach the rules

I set up The Meat Hygiene Service back in 1995, now the Food Standards Agency. I know very well how this works.

She is involving herself in Trump's involvement. If he hadn't decided to try to encourage Brexit, because it suits his own agenda, then there would not have been any need for a comment from Pelosi.

The US reports higher rates of illness from foodborne illness than in the UK. Annually, 14.7% (48m) of the US population suffer from an illness, versus 1.5% (1m) in the UK. This is nearly ten times the percentage of population.

The US reports higher rates of deaths from foodborne illness than in the UK. The annual death rate in the US is 3,000 per annum, versus 500 in the UK. [The US population is about 5 times the size of the UK.]

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report around 380 deaths in the US each year attributed to foodborne salmonella poisoning. The most recent epidemiological lab data from Public Health England, 2006 to 2015 shows no deaths in England and Wales from salmonella. Salmonella food poisoning is most commonly caused by consumption of contaminated food of animal origin, such as beef, chicken, milk, fish or eggs.

The Food Standards Agency recently updated its guidance to say that eating soft-boiled British Lion Mark eggs is now safe, thanks to a dramatic reduction in the presence of salmonella. By contrast, the US Food and Drug Administration still advises US consumers to hard boil their eggs due to salmonella fears. They report 79,000 cases of illness and 30 deaths a year from salmonella infected eggs.

That's just one farmer and it wasn't long ago that one of the UK's largest poultry suppliers was caught redating chicken

I am so fed up with false news, CHECK YOUR FACTS.

This from Wikipedia:

''The subsequent Food Standards Agency investigation report, published 2 March 2018, cleared the business of any serious non-compliances.''

All farmers and slaughterhouses are subject to the same regimes, what is so hard to understand. This is the British food standards rules and why it's so important. So it's not about one farmer.

As I said, it was an external check that appeared to find Salmonella causing a mass cull on the farm of which I was writing. In reality it's unlikely the salmonella originated at the farm, which is frustrating, but better safe than sorry.
