If we Brexit before a GE my gut feeling is that the public will have had enough of that for now. I think the when it came the GE would be normal service resumed. That is why Boris is picking off key Tory targets like crime so he can fight Corbyn on traditional grounds and point to what he has already done.

GE before Brexit will be a referendum of sorts and as you said I would expect plenty of tactical voting by the public and the parties.

One more point

The leave campaign was one of several campaigns to exit the EU. It wasn't the 'pope' it didn't speak for everyone on the leave side.

We will have a new trading relationship with the EU regardless of what happens.

The 350m figure isn't accurate...it varies depending upon how you measure it....and I certainly don't agree with giving all the EU money to the NHS. It was a dodgy slogan just as the remain campaigns had 'project fear'...and continue to have.

There has been a tory right-wing coup, not subject to elections and not what the voters voted for, their policies and ideology are different.

It is so easy in modern UK to gain power through the back door, through connections and what private school you went too.

Interesting read. I also noted a little throw away comment by the BBC that we have now completed trade deals with 39 countries. I believe these are with ones who already deals had with the EU so a cut and paste job but some on this board said this would be next to impossible take years etc.

It would seem that Mrs May and her team were never serious about planning for life away from the EU with or without a trade deal. I think the current team are showing that whilst there will always be bumps in the road it is not as bad as some fear.

I am glad to hear that they are using common-sense sense on border controls. I could never understand the view that we would not be able to import food and medicine to me that would only be true if UK officials and rules snarled up the process. After all if you are a Swiss drug company why would you not want to continue to sale your drugs in the UK? Any delays would have to be down to our side so thankfully someone has recognised this so I don't think it will be a big deal.
