In any event I would imagine that the polls won't bear much resemblance to what will actually happen if a General Election is called. When it comes to the crunch will people vote for a party who's current MPs include so many deserters from the main parties in it and who only have their approach to Brexit in common and will they switch their vote to Liberal Democrat knowing that if enough others did it Jo Swinson would end up as Prime Minister

Labour’s position is a farce.

Because they must look at the constituency breakdown of both the June 23rd referendum and the more recent Euro elections and shudder. Because that paints the picture for them. For me, Corbyns attempt to keep walking the tight-rope actually makes rational sense because if they were to openly adopt a full on Remain stance, they would be finished. Labour did well in 2017 with a clear commitment to respect the referendum result. And now they support a second referendum. Not going to play well hence why they are bottling a GE. Corbyn is the smart one in that he knows this. What I struggle to understand is the people around him who seem unable to look at a basic map of how the UK has voted on the issue of Europe on the last two occasions it was asked.

Corbyn's position is not a farce and it is clear to me. But it is wrong because it continues the brexit saga 'ad infinitum'. In fact all the options, including especially 'no deal' where the UK will have to apply for a trade deal which will take years, reinforce brexit longevity. There is no closure here, only cancelling offers that. Cancelling is also the only thing the UK has the power to do. The rest has been give away all for some leave fantasy. The UK's position, its reputation people wonder what is going on here doesn't even have a parliament.
