very obvious that MPs want brexit cancelled, at least wisbech will be happy!!

I don't think that's true. Some do, but they always have.

It's interesting that Letwin himself has said he will vote for this deal so I suspect a majority actually exists in favour of it.

What is true is that Parliament doesn't trust Johnson and those advising him. They want to scrutinise the deal and make sure that no tricks are played. They may well amend the necessary legislation to ensure that isn't done. Time alone will tell.

You can hardly blame Parliament for that! Johnson has previous doesn't he? In trying to sideline them during the unlawful prorogation he destroyed any remaining trust.

didnt letwin put up the Brexit wrecking amendment?? Doesnt want brexit and i suspect it will end up being cancelled after anothr non binding referendum.....I will not vote as the stinking MPs will only ignore the result as they have with the previous referendum...all MPs are bent corrupt and only in it for themselves and their EU future jobs and pensions..eg the whole lying corrupt Kinnock family...you wanna call Johnson a liar, then play fair and refer to all the scum MPS as liars too

The Country has been let down again by these self serving idiots who voted for the Letwin amendment. Boris Johnson is the only o e actually fighting for the 17.4million. There is a lot more to come and at the end of the day to get this deal agreed by Parliament. As for the thousands of t***s who demonstrated accept that Brexit will happen so spend your time supporting it.

Isn't the leave side currently led by the most self serving idiot in modern British political history?

It’s now a bit like that diplomatic immunity apparently ie. an excuse for absolutely anything

I recall one of the rallying chants of leavers was to restore parliamentary sovereignty. Not remotely surprised that leavers fail to see the irony in their schemes being undone by... err... parliamentary sovereignty.

Indeed it did. And Johnson has now said he will not go back to the EU an ask for an extension. There is no backing down from that.

How can Parliament have confidence in a PM that refuses to listen to it?

He’s got round that by sending the letter but not signing it. Dominic Cummings probably had some input there. I don’t blame Boris for that, especially when you have pathetic MPs on tv claiming Boris will have to do this or that when he’s having to do whatever because of them, not because he’s forgotten to have a report ready for a meeting.

Yes we’ll i think a lot of them like having less decisions and responsibilities as MPs.

It was Letwin's amendment but it wasn't intended to "wreck" it at all. That's just the way the ultra leavers want to present it. The purpose is to ensure it is scrutinised and amend it if needed to ensure that Johnson's assurances are written into law.

It will pass. Be patient.

How can the EU agreement be amended without the EU having an input.
Just a question really.
It's taken 88 days to get this far.

That will be challenged in Court for sure and elevated to the Supreme Court very swiftly.

There are two important things which I suspect will come into focus now.

The first are the promises that were given by the government to the Court in Scotland about sending the letter and the request that should they fail to do so that the Court should do so on their behalf.

The second is that Judges don't only reach conclusions on the letter of the law but on the intentions which lie behind it.

Johnson trying to thwart the will of Parliament in this way just shows that their distrust of him is totally justified and ought to be condemned by everyone, whatever their personal preference about Brexit might be. It's unconscionable behaviour.

It's not a EU agreement.

It's our agreement with the EU which needs to be established in UK law. That will be complicated and time consuming and definitely needs to be scrutinised.
