Pages 1-99 will read 'Corbyn is a marxist'

And Labour's will also be 99 pages trying to explain to the voters what their position on Brexit is beyond opposing a Tory deal. Good luck with that.

It appears that Johnson is now going for a 3 month extension and a GE.

Ken Clarke asked the government to continue with the bill whilst they sorted out the timetable. Whilst this seems reasonable on reflection I think Johnson is right to suspend it.

Even when agreement is reached over a new timetable those who oppose the bill will just find further excuses to delay or alter it as it went through the house.

Yesterday's vote for the bill was actually a clever tactic by Remainers. They can now say to the voters that they supported the bill in principle. The reality is that the key vote was the timetable and that shows the actual feeling of the house.

Johnson has concluded rightly I think that this Parliament will agree nothing.

Time for a GE the public can then back the party they feel closest to their view on Brexit.

MPs have taken the electorate for buffoons and made our nation the laughing stock abroad.

Remainer/opposition MPs somewhat peeved that Johnson actually agreed a deal with the EU almost instantly moved the goalposts and determined to force him into a delay passed an amendment to prevent him from meeting the 19th October deadline. The reason was purely to thwart Brexit and they should be ashamed of themselves.

MPs voted for a second reading of the WAB but it is as plain as the 'Aurora Borealis' that the remainers would have raised amendment after amendment and it would appear that Johnson has decided that any extension to the timetable would be worthless. He will call for a General Election but of course needs 2/3 of MPs to agree - we will see if Labour try to thwart this as well after repeatedly calling for a GE.

Not at all. You are seeing insults where they don't exist, which is interesting of itself.

I am sure that many who don't think the same way as me can be opened minded on many subjects, and would have no concerns about semantics, like the use of particular terms.

I once read a quote along the lines that one should not conclude that minds are either closed or open and that the best minds are closed by openable windows.Or something like that !

I believe using such terminolgy, many have concluded outside of HOL, and perhaps inside it a well, that my windows are closed and that the keys have been discarded !

I think your conclusion is right.

I have thought for quite a while now, well before this "deal" was finalised, that what was happening was really just electioneering and positioning ready for a GE. All sides are doing it.

Johnson will present himself as a martyr to the cause, as a hero who managed to get a deal but was stopped from doing it by a recalcitrant Parliament. How many Brexit Party sympathisers will now vote Tory is critical but unclear to someone like me

Labour are in a huge mess and have no cohesive plan to get anywhere unless they dump Corbyn and regroup quickly.

The LibDems will do well with those who want to remain. The SNP will sweep the floor in Scotland.

There are obviously a range of outcomes dependent on events as yet unknown. A hung Parliament and a coalition looks the most likely one, but where the balance will be is a puzzle.

It really is all to play for.

Interesting to read that because the GE would have to be cleared like a bill, it is subject to amendments from MPs. One of those amendments could be a proposal to change the legal voting age to 16

Not sure that’s an insult. More of an observation.

Of course you aren't always wrong! You are probably right in one of your above remarks.

Explain to me though why saying "people like you" is an insult? I am proud to be associated with people who think like me. Are you ashamed to be associated with people who think like you?

Further proof of Labour leanings. Blatant anti-Semantic language

Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry.
