The wines were particularly nice last evening as was the company and the conversation. Some of us are managing to find some black humour in all this silly triumphalism.

You meant celebrating what we voted for and were forced to wait three years for thanks to people like you?

In your face old boy.

No I won't. What you mistake for "moaning" isn't and never has been. I, and those who think like me, just reach different conclusions about where our place in the world needs to be. Not just for today but for our mid to long term futures. People like you often complain that Brexit is not just about economics and, on this, you are quite right.

As I see little prospect of my reasoning changing I suspect that in 5 years time I will be pushing for us to re-enter, a hopefully reform aed, EU. We will be facing another election, unless Johnson changes the rules to favour him. The greener grass argument will be reversed by then. Hopefully an effective opposition with a strong message (including introducing PR) will have emerged and the drift to the right stopped in it's tracks. Things always go in cycles so time is my political friend, even though it might not be my personal one.

Spend them in Jane's pub.
She likes brexit.

The pool table there takes 50p pieces. When it's cleared they go into the charity jar which this year is for Shelterbox, a local organisation devoted to disaster relief, normally in third world countries.

That would seem an apposite use for something many of us don't want.

You simply confirm exactly what I said!

We have been recently been offered one opinion piece from a European paper on Brexit, which has received widespread coverage in the right wing British press.

Here is another which I wager won't get ANY coverage but is in my view every bit as relevant:-

[Link]

I believe there is a great deal of truth to be found in this piece much of it reflected in many of the comments in this thread.

If you could apply a single word to western societal breakdown it would be called “Ireland”. The switch from Catholic dogma to Globalist dogma has been spectacular to say the least.

It might have started that way but go on any Trump supporting site and the people there really believe it. So do people like Alex Jones! So it really isn't funny anymore. Is is how some people now get their "news" and it's a very obvious example of how lies become the truth in some people's minds.

Yes, it did start that way. It was Joan Rivers from memory but maybe not. What’s the solution? Ban jokes in case anyone thinks they’re serious points? Or only let clever people be amused?

No, the answer has to be more effective oversight on social media platforms so that downright lies get no traction. I fully understand the difficulties and downsides involved but something needs to be done. In today's world many people now believe things that are just untrue and that is very dangerous.

Doubt that’s possible. Who decides what’s “true” and what isn’t?
Do they also censor books, films, documentaries , etc? That sounds more dangerous than the risk of some people believing jokes are real.

So in effect WE wants a 'ministry of truth'.

Yet another far left trope from him.

The unelected bureaucrats of the EU signed the Brexit Withdrawal Agreement this week.

It was signed by two unelected EU presidents, each earning over €32,000 a month, and overseen by an equally unelected Barnier on something in the €20,000 p/m range.
