That is partisan conjecture with a heavy dose of self-imposed resignation and/or blinkered thinking. And of course you're welcome to it. However if I need to repost I will bother finding it, alternately people could read up on things in the round themselves (novel idea that, I'm assuming you do but plenty of others are clearly just winging it).

I won't argue the direction of travel is more centralised power, but you can't just don a tin hat and think that means it's happening imminently, inevitably or otherwise, across every possible branch of life – I usually find it's best to be objective based on the currently available information. Anything else is simply partisan conjecture.

On a scale of 1-10, I'd happily bet my house on the likelihood of this particular branch of centralisation (An actual, cross border EU Army that does away with national armies) happening being a 2. That's being generous. And certainly not within the next 50 years, barring one caveat – You'd need a major catastrophe or confrontation for that probability to change anytime soon.

In the near to medium term, quite likely long term, You're simply not going to get all member states signing up to deleting their national armies. Not going to happen.

Maybe it's an objective, maybe it's a concept. Maybe it's been blown out of all proportion for the sake of argument (ding). Maybe it means something a little less fantastical, and, plausible (ding).

But to some, the sky is always falling in. So meh

I accept that you are giving an honest straight opinion and I respect that.

Yep, I'm partizan but I don't think I'm blinkered....but then again who does.

If you have the EU army, what's the point of the national army SW? Certainly national armies on the French or British scale. A national army only makes sense if you can use it independently.

I'm not saying that the EU would ban national armies....but come on...they aren't going to look favorably at them beyond a set size are they. They are probably going to set limits on what individual states can have.......over time I'm just not seeing the point of individual nations bothering when they can reduce spending by collectivizing.....They would just pay into the collective pot.....They could then have larger security and Police systems.

I think your point that the drift towards centralisation is inevitable is correct. It' s the evolution of all organisations to look to increase their power if they get the possibility.....The EU is essentially a corporation now, one that is invested in cementing itself for the long term.....An army is an essential part of that.

Just my partizan two pennies.

I get mildly riled at incessant nonsense, yes. Unfortunately there is a lot of that on here.

When it comes to judging character one has to start from somewhere, and location and posting history usually add up to a ballpark stereotype. This of course will now be refined.

Fair re. the Sun, it just seemed a valid starting point as per above. The twitter reposting was mainly aimed at DANGERMOUSE, who appears to only speak in reposted tweets. But the general point remains – don't just rely on the same streams of self supporting guff. Challenge your own opinions in the same way you do sources on the opposite side of whatever you're on.

Finally, whether you are a chump or not is for others to determine.

Fair. I just don't see it happening any time soon (full EU army). Impossible to say it won't happen, but I'm pretty confident it's not occurring in my lifetime. Co-sharing resources where needed in a kind of UN arrangement? Perhaps. But that's not the same as a one army system and the end of national militaries. You could argue it's a step, but again, for reasons outlined many many times, I just don't see it happening in the near to medium, even long term.

That said I do think globalisation of all things is inevitable (although way, way in the future) so at that point it becomes a world army anyway, and perhaps by that point instead of national armies, you'll have anti-globalisation rebels left as the only remnants of nations, borders and culture. And don't even begin to think about the chaos if we start settlements on Mars/the Moon via good old Elon. If you've seen Ad Astra that seems a far more realistic take to me. Same wars different planet

I don't think anyone argued that the EU were going to ban any form of national military....though like I say, limits will inevitably be set.

The contention was the EU army.

Personally I'm pretty sure you'll live long enough to see the EU place limits on national armies and the creation of....what is in affect an army, but just with a warm worded description for expediency.

Hopefully we both find out because if it's going to happen it's going to happen reasonably soon due to the rise of nationalism.....the centralists will likely be wanting to take measures against it and double down.

So if it's still there in its present form I predict this will happen before the end of the twenties.

Presumably you include Wisbeach Eagle in this?
Interesting is this because I live in Horsham? Well I was born and bred in Thornton Heath, went to school in Thornton Heath and Croydon. Didn't move out until 1992. During this time Addiscombe was considered upper class to me and my friends
Why was the Sun a valid starting point?
You called me a chump so you have presumably determined this without any knowledge of me

That's the thing with time scales, if you look very long term humans cease to exist along with possibly the universe itself in its current form.....We are energy essentially and will revert back to it.

Yep, if we look very long term and assume that humans still exist then essentially globalisation ends in a form of communism where technology effectively looks to remove all genetic difference and flaws.

However, why am I interested in that? Nihilism is true but its removal of personal god(s) and of purpose also frees me to assert my own purposes and motivations.....So why shouldn't I perform my genetic function?

I live in my time and so it makes sense to shape that for the next few generations not the next few centuries.

I have my genetics and lineage. We are essentially gene carriers and the point of my existence is to propagate them, raise the prodigy and then eventually die.....I'm half way through that.

The globalist system into Europe essentially is an attack on working class whites and that's my demographic. So it makes sense to fight that.

It's coming for the middle and higher eventually as well because new orders require new hierarchies.

Essentially those that push for globalization before the technology exists to ease genetic transitions will and are going to create several huge piles of bones.

100% agree. We would never agree to giving up our armed forces and merging them into any kind of EU army. That some in the EU might like that does not mean it would happen. More co-operation. Sharing supply chains. Join exercises. All for sure. But under one EU command? No chance.

Only if we faced some kind of unforeseen total catastrophe which threatened to wipe us out would it become even remotely possible.

In fact I think Brexit makes it rather more likely than if we were remaining in the EU. Why might that be?

Well I don't think that as a full member with our treaty obligations firmly in place we could be forced to do anything like that. However if, as I anticipate, the UK now breaks apart and England, either with Wales or eventually separately, struggles to assert itself in today's fast changing world and fails to satisfy people's expectations to the point where there is a clamour for re-entry to the EU, then the EU will doubtless dictate much more demanding, terms than we now have. Extensions of majority voting would be one for sure and who knows what else. A gradual move towards an integrated army could be part of the package.

As Simon Jordan said "Be careful what you wish for". Chasing dreams can make you bankrupt. Or at least much poorer

England 'struggling to assert itself'....with a seaborne nuclear deterrent and a huge ocean on one side and a continent between us and our nearest potential enemy.

But hey, reality isn't for everybody.

Every other point has already been answered in the previous posts, which he no doubt didn't read.

And so the day had finally dawned and as the clock ticks down to 11pm tonight folk across this country anxiously wonder about the big question, Remain or Leave.

Will their star player Remain or is he a Leaver.

Oops sorry I meant to post this in transfer news.
