The problem is a lack of admissible evidence. Our security services possess the evidence but they are not going to appear in Court to give it. They risk compromising their sources should they do so. So they never do so, as a matter of policy. Carole Cadwalladr has strong contacts within our security services, which is how she broke the Cambridge Analytica scandal in the first place. She knows the truth, but knowing and proving are two different things. Hearsay evidence, even from immaculate sources, isn't admissible. The truth will eventually be proved one day. Be patient.

1M more EU citizens have applied to stay than government expected, the scheme has another 6 months to run so the final number will be higher. I would say I'm surprised but I'm not. If I could be bothered to go back through this thread I pointed out that I expected the so called 3.4m EU citizens to be far higher and this proves the point. The government (s) have no idea how many people actually live here 1m extra people is not insignificant especially when we come to resources such as NHS, public transport and education. So what's the bottom line, well going back to Tony Blair and beyond the public should not believe politicians when they talk about immigration numbers. You cannot have a fair and effective immigration policy if you continually underestimate how many people come to these shores and stay. It's time to hold the authorities to account.

So do you agree trump has a point then. Not a lack of evidence just a lack of admissible evidence. Along side people afraid of being totally wiped out if they actually come forward. Both by antifa and the media. I'm sure the truth will be proved. One day!

It's squeaky bum time in the negotiations. Apparently the EU has hardened it's stance especially over fishing rights. Macron and Merkel are apparently playing hard ball. My advice to Boris is stick to your guns and go for a no deal Brexit. This will be annoying to business but it's not the end of the world. I would also make it clear to the EU that no deal means no EU fishing in our waters period. Next year Merkel is stepping down and Macron's party is facing elections. It maybe that the EU will be more flexible once the reality of the situation hits home to them. No doubt their advisors would say the same thing about the UK. Hold firm Boris.

Anyone noticed how no one appears to be so worried about us "CRASHING OUT" without a deal nowadays. Remainers couldn't even mention a deal this time last year without panicking about us "CRASHING OUT" without one. It appears to have become a phrase that was sooooo 2019. The pandemic at least appears to have had a calming influence on some.
Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry. |

Still got my fingers crossed for no deal because I simply cannot see why the EU would commit to any agreement that was not in their favour. The starting point should have been that WTO was the default position with plenty of side deals to ensure that ran smoothly. Still, this is the end game now and I just cannot bear the thought of all these years being utterly wasted if they sign a deal that gives the EU even a single shred of control over us. Both sides need to a complete clean break, especially now and the UK needs to be as free as possible to cope with the s*** storm about to break. Which is going to be massively worse in the EU because the Germans are going to want to weaken the Euro considerably so they can get their export market going again. Which means a s*** storm for Southern Europe. Sod being Greek or Italian over the next couple of years. If you think things are bad now for them then it is only going to get far worse.

It looks like the end game is upon us. As Harold said, 'will no one rid us of these onion eaters!'.....Albeit he'd have to expand that menu somewhat. And I talk only of the over powerful EU gravy train institutions, not of most of my fellow Europeans.
