Really how does May square that with her governments contempt of parliament, the first ever and only a week ago.

I think it's called hypocrisy.

It is only 100 days away, yet the PM is still trying to deflect the vote on her 'deal' to January.

At last a no confidence motion, and deserved one, from Jeremy Corbyn.

Who does she think she is kidding the EU have said there is no further negotiation, that is it.

It covers the webbed feet at least.

Still, just to deflect from Brexit for one moment, it's a serious point about flooding.....you'd be surprised just how well protected this area is from flooding. I suppose it's because that particular threat has been with the area for centuries the stakeholders of the past throughout history actually got of their arses and did something about it.

No major flooding here since the fifties but that can't be said for many other areas of the country. There are areas that aren't so historically at threat but because they haven't have the same level of protection through the centuries and recent decades are in far more realistic danger.

Up to a point yes. Lucky we had him about during WWII for sure. But he was pretty much the definition of the establishment and the establishment seems to be getting a bad press at the moment.

Met the owner of a Polish shop earlier who was originally from Iraqi Kurdistan. I'm fairly sure it was Winston who stood up in Parliament to advocate dropping chemical weapons on the Kurds some considerable time before Saddam actually did it.

I have the first edition of his History of the English speaking people in 4 volumes on my book shelf. I should get round to reading them.

I doubt very much if enough of the 117 tories who voted against her last week will do so again. They're tories.

I was certainly taking a more holistic summary of the man for sure.

I intend to read an biography of him at some point but everybody is a man of their time and place and so judgements have to be somewhat tempered within that context.

But no doubt much of it would be similar to the the old Truman - hero/monster - for ending WW2 bombing civilian cities in Japan and horribly killing hundreds of thousands of men, women and children.......but saving his own troops in the process.

Its events like that which have taught me much about the reality of life and its true colour of grey.....The major decisions always come with winners and losers....the zero sum game is rare indeed.

I wouldn't have reckoned our chances much with Corbyn in charge. But again Theresa May would still be fighting on in her deluded little mind 30 years after Adolf was ensconced in Buckingham Palace.
