Right now or two years in the future? (or something else)

Well, like the leavers had to do for generations they wait.

You can hope that the arses in charge aren't as terrible to you, as they were to people like me.....Perhaps you won't get to wait forty years.

If remain had won by the same margin....I wonder what your attitude would have been to the pressure for another vote right away...Mmmm.

You see, I don't think they do wait.

I suspect they will be somewhat more proactive than that. We shall see.

I could also point out again the difference between the scale of the vote in favour of the EU in 1975 and the leave vote in 2016. I would suggest it was somewhat more convincing in 1975.

If it was the same animal as the economic community we voted to stay in, I'd agree. But it isn't.

The margin of a vote doesn't change the length of a parliament.

I would agree however, that even though more people voted to leave the EU than have ever voted for any other result in UK history that another vote in ten years or so would be fair enough.

The words said before this vote by those that set it have to be respected. But to attempt to overturn the leave vote even before Brexit has been enacted.

That's not democracy.

I think you would have to define democracy

If it's the will of the people then it is.

In any case our democracy is supposed to be representative and not direct, it was only the weakness of Cameron that resulted in a plebiscite.

Mind you, the intrasigence of the EU was a major driver for the groundswell of anti-EU opinion.

This is a true point.

Still don't think there was a clear majority for exiting the EU until exactly the time of the vote, which was a response to a build up of frustrations.

That's the salient point that many in remain just aren't interested in.

The reality is that all this was said before the referendum. It was made very clear by all the major players that this vote mattered.

Now because remain lost....suddenly we have to have another vote like the Irish did.

No, you win some, you lose some. However, some people just can't accept it.

'another vote like the Irish did'.

Exactly, it is democracy.

Well, for years before the vote opinions polls were showing majorities against the EU.....Was you pushing for a vote on it?

No you weren't.....So why should you expect people to care now?

I wager that it isn't because you care about what potential majorities exist out there but only because this is all you have.

Nope.....Brexit must be allowed to play out.

What was done to the anti EU crowd should be meted out to the pro EU crowd.....How we were treated should be how you are....Even if I promote the idea that leavers should be far fairer than the pro EU crowd were.

Like you proved on here during the independence vote in Spain.....you don't care about democracy Steely.

You appear to only use the concept for convenience.

You are misunderstanding me again

My prediction is that there will be a People's Vote for two reasons. First because Brexit is proving to be a Unicorn, as predicted. And second because 'The People' are mobilising and will take over the agenda in the end.

I may well be wrong and it may be wishful thinking but I am sensing a sea change in the politics.
