It's hardy their fault that the system isn't quite designed to produce the best meritocratic leaders. The lowering of standards doesn't lie at the feet of social conservatives. Every generation acts in what they perceive is their own best interests. Sure, the baby boomers took all that was available to take....just like every generation before them and just like every generation to come. I agree that politicians can be criticised.....but you don't blame the sheep, you blame the Shepard. Though I'd imagine we'd differ on the Shepard.

As the father of a shepherd I am concerned that a teacher doesn't know the spelling. Just proves how divorced society is from its food production. There is a difference though. You get the Government you encourage and vote for. That is not the same with shepherds. The sheep constantly call to bar the shepherds, yet still they keep coming back. People voted e.g. for Thatch and encouraged her in her 'reforms'. Then, boo hoo, all that extra money that came their way through reduced controls somehow becomes tainted because it was made as a result of a lack of controls. Fancy that.

Really,we had paper bags recycled glass bottles.no so many cars,we used public transport more. I love it when young people blame old people for all their woes. If it wasnt for old people like my father they wouldn't have the things they have now. And before the usual suspects start giving it large,I have 4 children ranging from on 24_38.

Do you seriously believe that people change from one generation to the next? Darwin would have been very interested in your ideas. Nurture teaches and nature determines what you do with it. When kids are little they believe in Father Christmas. We told them he was real. People also tell them that going 'green' will save the planet. It won't, and the planet will be here long after we are gone anyway. When it comes to voting, I don't want people deciding my future who recently discovered that Father Christmas is really Dad.
