In my view the only one who can pretty much ensure a majority is Johnson.

I think what we are seeing here is that many Tory MPs care more about personal ambition than a majority.

Because he is going for leader saying the same old tired rubish every politician in Britain has said. "We must show resolve",does he think anyone will honestly take him seriously.

You're right on that count, but that's what they all do unfortunately. Personal ambition is their priority and as such they'll all be promising all sorts to try to win the leadership battle. I don't trust any of them.

That's simply untrue. Civil servants might "run the show" in the same way that the stage crew, doormen, the box office, and even the actors (ministers?), run the show in a theatre but they don't write the script or decide what plays will appear in a theatre. That is above their pay grade. Of course the responsible politicians get advise from many places, including senior civil servants about what is possible and how best to achieve it, but the decisions rest with them alone. No turkey gets any kind of vote.

This idea that an unelected EU bureaucracy is in control of our lives is a total fallacy spread by the Euro-sceptics to poison the well of public opinion. Seems it has worked in your case.

Total bo****ks and if you were truthful with yourself you would agree. Believe me MPs make many decisions on the say so of Civil Servants (42 years in the Civil Service has taught me this)

Oh for sure.

I know it's seems absurd to refer to this all as an entertainment when we refer to the running of a country.....but in truth systems run countries not figureheads so in terms of direction of travel.....it's more a dog and pony show than anything else.

A bit like watching a beauty contest where they are all mingers but you have to shag one of them at the end......kind of the probable inverse of when Trump ran Miss World.

So it's more....who are you most willing to grin and bear it with.

Johnson is loathed by half the party already, and with good reason.

Having that bumbling fool as PM would just about finish off the Tories.

Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha.

I should imagine he'd have your support to win the leadership then.

It's all fun and games!

The PM candidates look like they fell out of the Monty Python Upper class twits sketch.

I think that Raab seems like the most 'normal' personality but I fear that we will get another non divisive waste of space compromise.

Any potential PM that uses the words "compromise" "deal" "unite" "backstop" should be ignored.
