Votes count provided a majority of 650 people agree the likely outcome is in our best interest.

Either the May deal will be dressed in new clothes and able to just be squeezed over the line, although that's far from certain as Labour and the LibDems would oppose. More likely I think is Parliament (not just leavers) acting together to ensure that the EU grant an extension. I guess this would have to be via a vote of no confidence and an interim PM with a cross party temporary government of national unity with a date set for a GE. A new PM would ask for the extension which would probably then be reluctantly granted. Johnson, and the Cabinet, are all sticking to the line of not answering how they intend to comply with the law but not ask for the extension which the law now requires. It makes them all seem ridiculous. Maybe Johnson will resign or hand temporary control to Gove, so he can ask and then go to Brussels and veto the approval vote. Maybe he will call a vote of no confidence in himself. More likely though is it's just bs, which seems to be his stock in trade. Edited by Wisbech Eagle (17 Sep 2019 9.47am)

Johnson's red line is that the UK must be able to make trade deals outside the EU's rulebook.......That's exactly what they don't want and what is behind the backstop bs. Unless the EU shift we will be leaving with 'no deal' if Johnson remains PM..(though I see a deal later on afterwards)...and if he goes to the polls he wins anyway, no matter what they say or do. I'm fully behind taking a metaphorical chainsaw to the whole rotten facade....Whatever Cummings and co come up with which results in us getting out. I can't stand some of these people. They have had their way for forty years and now it's time for them to move on.

The minimum penalty for treason is 40 years in prison and if anyone tries to pull that stunt we should have a show trial as a warning to others

Edited by Stirlingsays (17 Sep 2019 10.04am) I certainly agree with what should happen but it seems the remainers have full control of the narrative to the point they can ignore opposition and slander opponents and so can virtually do whatever they want now. I believe it will take some drastic action by leavers to make this happen. i.e. riots The interesting option re cummings is that the justification for extending in March was that EU law supplanted UK law. If that's the case how can this traitorous surrender legislation supplant article 50?
