It fascinates me. And I always said that if it truly offered a Pan-European future then I was open to persuasion. But it has not. It is rotten to the core. I accept that I have far to much interest in the daily machinations of real politik and that the EU throws up so many interesting questions and contradictions but the UK is so far well out of it. Just the utter stupidity of the Euro is proof for me that many of the leading lights of the European 'ideal' are beyond comprehension. And it has condemend millions of Europeans to poverty, reducing countries to effective vasel states. The biggest peace time disaster ever imposed on Europe. Give me a genuine Pan-European ideal, with a glorious vision of the worlds greatest continent acting as one from the western most beachs of Ireland to the very edges of the Russian borders (and why should Russia not be included?) and I am all ears. But what we have in Brussels is ludicrous. Just the farce of how it ups sticks and moves to Strasbourg for a few days every month is the only proof you need. Top post!!

Over all as negative, and perhaps less conducive to social mobility given that it is far more based on class (via the old school tie) and so on than money but also I would argue having less of a negative impact, over-all, on public services and/or the perception of them.

Amongst democratic nations it shouldn't be necessary to have a European Treaty protecting women from violence.

3.8m EU citizens apply to stay. I expect the final number will be well north of 4m. Anyway the system seems to be working well if they haven't applied yet, why not? Meanwhile I wonder how UK residents in the EU are getting on with their applications?

The one good thing about this bloody pandemic has been that some of the more hysterical reactions to brexit happening have been put in firm perspective My main concern is that governments are addicted to cheap labour, and so will the reality of immigration be different to the promise. Sure we have one less barrier to overcome - the EU - but we already see the non EU numbers on the rise, and that is obviously happening by design since we have full control over those numbers.

The government should be concerned about the jobless number on the rise. I doubt the public will forgive them if they continue to allow mass immigration whilst the folk here can't get a job. This is a big test for the Tories I voted leave so we could control our own destiny and right now we do not need large numbers of unskilled workers coming here very shortly we will have plenty of our own home-grown.

'They're doing jobs we don't want to do' and suchlike when really I've known plenty of people who would be happy with any job when they've been in a tough spot. As you rightly thing, with the jobless numbers likely to ramp up, and especially the young being very short on options, if we maintain an open door policy it'll be a monumental pisstake. I suppose that's the one good thing about having a half decent opposition - which there isn't and hasn't been for years really. Governments need to realise that if they take people for mugs, they'll be out. Right now, they're the only show in town, so hopefully they will keep their part of the bargain.

Germany Scraps plans for Brexit talks, EXCELLENT. Apparently we don't know the meaning of negotiations according to our German / EU friends. Of course what they mean is we give up everything and get nothing in return. I'm quite pleased at this my biggest concern is betrayal by this government so I would rather a no deal Brexit. As for the EU they are still pushing the same delaying tactics refusing to discuss multiple streams using linear tactics. No doubt they will be saying we need more time so lets have an extension. Boris had better say no to that. Six months and counting, time to break off the talks completely unless the EU is prepared to recognise our red lines. We need to start preparing for a no deal Brexit.
