The long term is a more GLOBAL world with GLOBAL economies. How can you expect to achieve that when cutting yourself off with the majority of the trade deals we had. Britons seem to be far too arrogant and undervalue other countries. Clearly Britain will not recover because we will lose the inward investment and scale that supports our trading negotiations.
My specific interest is in farming. My prediction is, especially following Brexit, only massive farmers will survive as they have the trading strength and economies of scale. This is a real life situation that shows we need to be part of a bigger trading bloc.

Aren't large farmer the ones favoured and subsidised by the EU anyway? Others had to diversify and produce fancy cheese, yogurt or ice cream.

Sorry, do you know anything about economics? I don't see how taking a massive gamble on your children's future fills you with 'delight'!? Even IF there are any positives to this outcome, there will be a huge amount of pain before we reach anything good. This is something that people of MY age bracket will have to deal with, whilst you waste in your care home being paid for by ME.
How old are your children? Did you listen to them when making your decision, like my father has listened to me?

Do you know anything?

You carry on fretting Maple. And I will enjoy my 25 or 30 odd years that I might have left knowing that I paid for privilege and hoping that I never have to spend any of that time any where near someone like you.

Don't you think it was the media to blame for that?

Do you? Do you know how much money leaves the country when East Europeans either wire it back home or return home to buy their bigger house or start a business and improve their and their country's situation far quicker? No? No, because it isn't reported. Couldn't we train and hire our own youngsters to the construction industry? It pays a decent wage if people aren't undercutting each other. I'm talking about building sites btw. You can always book a local builder for your home.

Ever heard of the multiplier effect? It's the theory used but never mentioned when a steel works goes out of business. All money that was in circulation and creating more money via the sandwich shop, pub, local shop of any kind, any business, that multiplier effect goes out of the window and everyone suffers. Whilst in the EU, could we do anything about failing but necessary businesses in the UK? No, against EU laws. Let them go to the wall instead. What about them?

Could we renationalise the railways? No, despite what Hilary Benn believes before pursing his lips on live tv.

Huge? You sure about that? Aren't you exaggerating again like Father to suit your stance?

Consider this, just roughly.

Sterling falls 10% and negates any trade tariffs, and that's whilst the EU still continues till the next default. Spain, Italy next? We'll be out and the 1st to benfit.

Sterling falls 10% and prices of goods increase, inflation rises to 3-4% but wages rise because of kerbs on immigration.

MP's are now saying they should have listened to people around the country. Bit late for that.

Instead of blaming maturer people, why not blame the apathetic yoof who don't/didn't vote? I've voted in every General Election since I qualified. Youngsters now prefer to vote for Big Bruv. Sense of entitlement without any responsibility.

And when the youngsters of today are able to buy a house, not a box flat, when they want, where they want, and in an area still inhabited by their friends and family and close to work, none of us expect any thanks, but that's why a lot of us voted leave. The sense of entitlement again.

Not that this applies to you but I'll raise it anyway. People of all colours voted leave. Just watch the tv.

Yes, I agree with you, they let me down. Had I been able to vote, as I was desperate to do, I would have been the first person into the polling station, like my brothers. Perhaps the relatively low turn out could be attributed to things such as:
Older people having more spare time in general. This is particularly relevant to those who have retired.
It is also very hard to identify with politicians who do not represent my age group.
I feel that young people were not concerned enough about the referendum as no one expected this outcome.

Hence the reason us "oldies" had our say... I know that now my children, my grandchildren and my great grandchildren I have now and future family members, will have a better chance of the life I want for them. NOT for a life that would have been changed year on year and ruined by the EU which as we all know is run by the French and the Germans. Just wait and see which other member states will now have referendums to come out as we have done.....The EU is on a downward spiral and will be finished in a few years while we will be strong as we always have been when on our own.

Supported Palace for over 69 years since the age of 7 and have seen all the ups and downs and will probably see many more ups and downs before I go up to the big football club in the sky.

Its no ones fault. It just the will of the people. Right or wrong, that's democracy. Its not really about right and left, but how the public view EU membership.

I expect Corbyn may have trouble in the coming weeks especially from Labour MPs who were for an exit.

Anyone that cannot spare the time to vote, doesn't deserve one. They get plenty of notice and the option to to it by post or by proxy.

I've wanted a vote on this for 20 years, others haven't had a vote on it for 43 years, so while I feel your pain in not getting a say it's life I'm afraid.

I'm fairly sure you'll get a vote on europe far sooner than I had to wait.

In the same way you aren't allowed to vote until you are 18 I don't think anyone over the age of 70 should be allowed to either. They are either bitter, brainwashed or doolally.

Eddie Izzard's record in campaigning:

This highlights my point of how out of touch these Labour luvvies are with the average bloke in the street. If Eddie really wanted to find out what people think and want, suggest he rents a house in West Croydon and then starts drinking in the Fox and Hounds. There is a strong chance one, or more, of the regulars will beat seven bails of s*** out of him because of his transvestitism, however I think Eddie will find this mild discomfort a small price to pay in return for reconnecting with the common chap.
