That was me. It seemed far to obvious that he was a wrong un to have got away with it, although I was pretty convinced he might very well have done some pretty terrible things after watching him with Louis Theroux.

Yes, that was awkward that moment but I actually genuinely didn't think it'd transpire he was a prolific paedophile. He had been evasive with Louis on several subjects and I convinced myself he was just a very odd man that was being defensive because he'd convinced himself Louis was out to attack him. Paul Daniels behaved similarly (although I am not implying anything there). Perhaps I was naive, but he was hiding in plain sight and while he was still alive I just thought he was an oddball that looked like a nonce. There are plenty of those in life that turn out not to be.

But to caveat, based on NPN's comment. No, I didn't exactly fall off my chair when I found out either.

And Paul Gamboccini turned out to be innocent. Its a strange old world. Paul Daniels is a magician, which by default means he's a wrong un, its just a question of whether its on the legal side of 'wrong un'.

For me its Magician, marionette puppeteer, mime and ventriloquist, respectively. Only difference maybe is that these are outlets for people who otherwise be driving long distances and have a lot of receipts from B+Q

Yes, it's actually Tony Crackburn.

Its like Pedo Magic Eye. You've been looking at it for ages, and suddenly you see it. Only its not a boat, its f**king nonce.

Not childish but certainly cowardly of you to make comments like that whilst you conveniently hide behind your cloak of anonymity

I think that's to be expected, of course its not really a witch hunt if you uncover a number of actual witches as well (Clifford, Hall, Glitter, Harris, Denning and Salmon). Moussa is still on going, David Smith topped himself, and a 69 and 74 year old are bailed to appear. Ray Terret was given 25 years, Fred Talbot five years and Johnathon King (and three others) are facing trial this year.

Worth noting that whilst both Starr and Dr Fox were found not guilty, both were proven to have committed acts which would be considered sexual offences by todays standards (Both groped underage girls) - Starr lost his deformation suit on the basis that his accuser did prove in court he groped her). Same was true of Fox its just that it fell short of being a criminal offence (he was proven to have put his hand up a 14 year old's skirt).

Granted the conviction rate has been less than 50% but its been far from a witch hunt some have made it out to be. However given that most sex offences have around a 5-10% conviction rate based on accusations resulting in convictions - Its done rather well.

Good post, point well made

You missed "scout leader" (that's just a topical joke, I'm not being serious, I just love cross-thread humour).

Well yes, although essentially it's like looking at a picture of a nonce trying to see a boat but it turned out to not even be a magic eye. It was just a picture of a nonce. All of the BBC claimed they could see a boat so you just went cross-eyed and went "oh yeah, I see the boat" so that you didn't look like the idiot.
