This is the sort of post that at the end of the season we may look back and regret.

"Brighton are talking about how they're coming for us. And it's like, we've been waiting in the Premier League for you for ages." Wilfried Zaha, 2017.

Agreed. We need to know exactly what state we are in before thinking about players. I mean if we have gone no wins in 21 and just stayed up in 17th then our quality of signing is affected. If however we get ourselves together and win a few games we could finish 12th and that to players looks like we are mid table.

Moussa sissoko
Tim krul
Nathan Redmond
Steven Naismith
Jon joe shelvey
Micah Richards

All would be good first team and bench additions in my eyes.and with good odds as a few of not most will be relegated. But top signings from other teams. That we might possibly be able to get

Wilfried bony
Gylfi sigurdson
Ashlie Williams
Loic Remy
Calum chambers

Worse than Hangeland and Kelly, would be on bigger wages than Mariappa.

I think we should be looking beyond players like Naismith too.

If we're talking just from the Premier League, these are players I would at least enquire about:

GK - Wojciech Szczesny - Contract up in the summer, would be a good signing for free

RB - Daryl Janmaat to buy or Chambers on loan

CB - Caulker - Has made some terrible career choices so far, could possibly excel next to Dann (or help get us relegated)

CB - Dejan Lovren - with Joel Matip coming in Lovren is likely to be 4th choice CB at Liverpool (still ahead of Toure and Gomez) so they may be willing to offload for cheap. Was class at Southampton but has had an up and down time at Liverpool (and that's being kind)

LB - Nathan Ake on loan, or Kieran Gibbs (he may want first team football)

CM - Moussa Sissoko, Ryan Mason or Etienne Capoue (doubt he'd leave Watford though)

Wingers/Attacking mid - Moses, J.Campbell, Oxlade, Redmond, Wijnaldum. First 4 names would provide great competition for Zaha and Bolasie, and Wijnaldum can play out wide or just off a striker very well.

Strikers - Perez/Ings are realistic possibilities. Would also enquire about Benteke and Bony although I imagine their wages are too high now.

Out of the players mentioned the only ones I would be unsure about being right for us are the two centre backs and the two right backs.

Janmaat - okay wing back but truly awful full back - and we do not play with wing backs.

Chambers - Arsenal spent a lot of money on him and see him as one for the future. I still remain unconvinced by him anyway.

Caulker - the guy is pure rubbish as shown at Cardiff; QPR; Southampton and Liverpool.

Lovren - Almost guarantee he will stay Liverpool.

Oxlade Chamberlain - surely you are joking - we could no way afford him.

Benteke - yep 120k per week and I cannot see Liverpool letting him go for less than 20m. I do not think so.

Ake; Gibbs and Redmond are good shouts though.

All my options I said would only be enquiries. As I said I am unsure about the centre backs and right backs and would definitely look abroad or in lower leagues for players rather than the prem.

I mentioned Caulker because a lot was expected of him when he came on the scene, he was s*** at QPR and Cardiff but remember how poor those clubs were both on and off the pitch. Still wouldn't be entirely convinced if we signed him but worth an enquiry. I agree with you about Chambers, if were to sign a right back he would need to be better than Joel Ward, and Chambers right now isn't IMO.

Lovren may be behind Skrtel, Matip, Sakho at Liverpool though with Toure and Gomez as extra cover, surely worth an enquiry?

Oxlade-Chamberlain is apparently not wanted by Arsenal anymore and Arsenal fans I've spoke to aren't too keen on him so he could be available for relatively cheap. Redmond would have been my first choice out of the wingers I mentioned, wanted him before Norwich signed him.

What do you think of the centre mids or strikers I mentioned or do you have any you'd wanna see here?

I like Sissoko but he has been playing for a poor side for two years. The times I have seen him he is good for ten to fifteen minutes and then goes AWOL.

Mason is also a good shout if Spurs were minded to let him leave. Works incredibly hard and is far better at getting in the box and scoring than any of our midfielders. Wijnaldum is a maybe yes and maybe no from me. He can be electric but a good performance one week in six is not acceptable. Maybe that is just the way things are in Geordie land though.

Perez has a lot of potential but I think he needs another year or two before he realizes it. Ings I have always liked and it will be interesting to see what happens with Liverpool on the striker front over the summer. Bony is a very good player but I would hope we would get someone earning a lot less money.

I would love to see us try to get Redmond and I also like the look of Ritchie at Bornemouth.

As strikers go, and as I have mentioned here, my pick would be Wilson from Bournemouth - incredible talent.

From the potential relegated teams, obviously providing we aren't one of them, I would take:

Sunderland:

Jan Kirchoff - really impressed with him since he's moved into holidng midfielder. Reads game well and passing is good, like an upgrade on Jedinak.

Duncan Watmore - I think this guy is a fantastic prospect and when he's back from injury, providing it hasn't messed up his pace, he'd be a fantastic signing.

Norwich:

Nathan Redmond - Gutted we didn't sign him when Norwich did, think he'd be great competition for Wilf and Yala

Newcastle:

Jack Colback - always liked him, despite the ginger, think he's a real battler and would add much needed depth to the middle of midfield

Sissoko - Would add so much to our midfield.

Adam Armstrong - Great prospect upfront, scored 19 already for Coventry this season.

Aston Villa:

Adama Traore - Lightning and think whilst he's very raw, could be a fantastic signing.

Outside the Premiership, I would love to see us bid for players like Rico Henry at Walsall, Moussa Dembele at Fulham, Dominic Iorfa at Wolves and Teddy Bishop at Ipswich.

I wonder how much we are paying Adebayor ? Whilst he is only on a free I bet he doesn't come cheap. Those 2 will definitely find the net, Bony is a better shout and even a loan deal would be fantastic for us. Personally I would like us to get some real PL experience in our squad rather than a number of prospects, particularly in defence.

Good shout if he's available for free but currently on loan at Roma, I assume he is their first choice. We can probably compete wages wise but they're still a huge club in the Champions League.
