He is more tuned into the people, or the electorate as they call it pre-election. The current lot are interested in figures for their own lot, whereas Blair & Brown were interested in figures for their own presentation and glory, which were always going to be short-term.

BJ may not be a polished politican but at least he won't apply morally reprehensible hardship to people born with, or damaged with disability, or at least at the same time as favouring those with plenty of money to spare. The fact he has a broader appeal is clue enough. Broader meaning draws in those more than just the privileged or loyal tory and can appeal to the more compassionate because he sounds like it rather than Osbourne who's probably never met anyone on less than £25k a year out of his hi-vis vest.

I don't know about that- as London mayor Boris has been rather too chummy with property developers, both British and foreign tycoons, for my liking, casually tearing up planning rules to let them build whatever they like where ever they like (such as the ludicrous Garden Bridge).

Boris may have a little more consideration for the poor, but he is sadly as guilty of having too many close links to big business as any senior elected official.

Seems that we are going to lose £22 billion because of this...

Not 'lose' Nick, merely re-directed for the greater good. Again.

Time to move forward together.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Labour and Alistair Darling bail out RBS?

Osborne has his faults, but bailing out RBS isn't one of his errors.

The bank was so rotten to the core at the time (as subsequent investigation has discovered) that it's share price will take ages to recover and avoid any losses - maybe Labour and their supporters should be a bit humble about that episode perhaps?

I'm not sure it was a mistake to bail out RBS - At the time the banks seemed to be financially entwined in their existence, and one bank going to the wall could very well have taken more with it.

The question remains what more Labour should have done to ensure that RBS becomes a viable state asset, rather than a private financial entity. The industry got away far too lightly from the consequences of its actions and responsibilities. For me, when RBS was bailed out, at the very least the state should have become a majority share holder.

The dreaded 'greater good'. Only an individual can ever successfully sacrifice, by choice, for the greater good. Attempts by other to establish a greater good, and then push others towards it, usually ends very badly.

Blimey Hoof, are you Osbourne's chief Teflon consultant?

Your stock M.O appears to be:

1. Blame Corbyn Yes / No
2. Blame Brown & Blair Yes / No
3. Blame the EU Yes / No
4. Blame Migrants Yes / No
If still no, return to line 1.

The person in control of the Exchequer, as he has been for 8 years, is Osbourne. Selling at this purported £22billion loss is his call and nothing whatsoever to do with what The Other Lot did or didn't do in the past.

Makes Brown's Gold fiasco (and it was a fiasco) seem like very small beer indeed, doesn't it?

I'n not a big fan of Osborne (note correct spelling) and think his recent Budget announcement cutting rates of CGT funded by welfare cuts for the disabled is pretty shabby. But compared to any Labour Chancellor, or shadow Chancellor he is head and shoulders ahead of them talentwise.

Gusset trumpeted this RBS matter as a Tory failing and I'm not having it - Brown's Gold gaffe was of his own making.. his call, no pressure, big fcuk up. Without this smug and unjust slur upon Osborne I wouldn't have commented at all.

Osborne inherited the RBS problem from another Labour fcuk up to bail out a bank that was rotten to the core led by a crook and rather than watch RBS share price fall further as more and more bad news and scandal is uncovered has decided to cut losses. As an ex IFA and experienced investor I can identify with this strategy - I've bailed out on a stock before now - crystallising losses but freeing up the cash to invest in a better stock. Another year of PPI claims, LIBOR fiddling etc, could wipe even more off the share price.

Your stock M. O. just seems to be talking bollocks - simple as.

And for the record I haven't blamed Corbyn for anything.... his appointment as Labour leader rather pleases me as it ensures a Labour government will be very unlikely to be seen beyond 2020. I think I'm actually being more than fair giving you lefties the heads up about his lack of talent and appeal.... LOL

As far as the others you mention, yes I do blame them....... well done Sherlock.... how did you unfathom that? I thought it was my secret strategy!

What a massive overreaction.

Seems to be quite a convenient distraction from the media covering why the EU is a load of s***, to me.

Optimistic as ever

Hahaha.

Reminded me of HIGNFY when they were musing at how the Daleks have sex and a member of the audience shouted out "EJACULATE!!!"
