If they defend like they did on Saturday, it could very well be a repeat performance.

Rafa seemed to be writing his CV on Saturday whilst the game was on going. They were f**king terrible. Plus there is a very real reality of them being stuck with some very big signings when they go down.

Everyone talks about Leicester's potential league win being great for the Premier League, but this season could also be a good year for football if all of the promoted clubs stay up. I don't feel passionately either way for Norwich, Watford, Bournemouth, Villa, Sunderland or Newcastle but for the three promoted clubs to stay up does at least make the gulf seem a bit smaller for a while. That said, I think it has been down to it being one of the poorest quality Premierships since it began.

People keep saying that but what makes it the poorest quality? The fact that the same 4/5 teams aren't getting their own way?

Just because no one is running away with it doesn't make it poor. I would argue it is the fact that more teams have improved, both tactically and with personnel. The PL has never been the bastion of suiblime football that Sky & TalkSport will have you believe. If it was PL clubs would have had more success in europe

As for Sunderland, if they go down they do have a manager that could get them back up. Whether Fat Sam fancies the job is another matter.

.

I might be wrong but I am of the opinion that Allardyce, as manager, has only been relegated with 1 club, Notts Co in the 90s.

It has been said in recent times that Allardyce guarantees survival so if a club is in some trouble they should either hold on to him or appoint him. If Sunderland are relegated then this 'mantra' will be heard less often !

It's a good argument. I guess a couple of things for me. Firstly that no one is consistent, but you're right in your argument that it could well be because the supposed "lesser" teams have upped their game rather than vice versa. But secondly, having sat on my sofa and watched a lot of games (not just ours), the standard of football doesn't seem as high. But I take your point, that perception could just be because it's been planted in my mind that it's not as good.

One thing that does stick in my mind a bit is that in the last two seasons there have been teams that have truly dominated Palace. This season I don't think many teams have, and I don't believe it's because we're significantly better.

As is League 1

Bolton, Wigan (prob not for long), Coventry, Blackpool, Fulham (maybe) and Charlton...

Newcastle's forum is a cracking read at the moment, in particular their Player Ratings thread.

This one in particular had me in stitches:

Taylor - 0 f***ing hell. Last time I ever want to see him play for us. Shocking. Simpsonesque levels of dropping off, no balls to make a challenge and his constant finger pointing infuriates me. I feel like the only reason he does it to try to take the heat off his own s*** performance by berating others. Is that irrational? Probably. **** him. His attempt at defending for their first goal has to be up there with the s***test things I have ever seen in my life in any regard, not just football. I honestly could have played better than him today and I am a terrible footballer.

Best premiership season if you ask me, because it hasn't essentially been down to four or five teams simply playing musical chairs on their financial win machines.

It could even end with only one of the champions league botherers actually making it to the champions league finishing spots.

Been a great season, and I don't think its just down to a poor show from Man Utd, Chelsea, Man City and the traditional Arsenal failure to compete for the top spots.

Its just that pundits like to phrase everything in how well or badly certain key teams to the franchise known as the Premier League and Champions League have done.

I actually want to see West Ham, Spurs, Arsenal and Leicester as the top four this season (but not in that order).

Of the big 4. Look at the players in the Man City second 11, they'd start in any of the teams above them except maybe Arsenal.

Odds on going down as now as follows.

Toon: between 9/1 on and 20/1 on
Mackems: everywhere about 4/1 on
Norwich: pretty much 2/1 against
Palace: between 100/1 and 200/1 against
Watford and Swansea still considered by some bookies

Yet 22% of Toon fans are still deluded enough to think they're staying up. Most of them at least realise that if the Canaries turn them over then they're goosed (that would probably be curtains for Sunderland too).

True, maybe we shouldn't sack him

it's been a revolutionary season, quality wise poor, yes but who remembers when the top 4 was a closed shop, clubs would settle for 4th bottom before the season starts and clubs like Wolves would play their reserve side and more or less concede the points when playing Man Utd, no one wants to see that

Ummm...Leicester are running away with it. 7 points clear with 5 to play...

We don't do possession; we do defense and attack. Everything else is just wa**ing with a football.

Got to be honest I put £20 on palace to be relegated at 23/1 a few weeks ago, I thought a sweetener of £400+ would help me through the hurt, but would be much happier losing my £20 coyp
