think this is a bit excessive..
Man is the most insane species. He worships an invisible God and destroys a visible Nature. Unaware that this Nature he’s destroying is this God he’s worshipping. Hubert Reeves |

We have loads of Libraries in Bristol, some used more frequently than others but the one in Avonmouth (a poor industrial area of the City) cost a total of £50,000 to run in 2014 and the records indicate that only 200 visits to the library were made in that year. It would have been cheaper for all concerned if those visitors actually bought the books they wanted from Amazon and got refunded by the council. At a cost of say £10 per book, the Council would have saved £30,000.

I think it is visitors rather than visits. 259 people made 3372 visits in total. It's still a very low rate (compared to other libraries) although the library is only open 13 hours a week.
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses. |
