Just read the Saracens got a £20m load for their redevelopment from Barnet Council.

PL clubs should not be relying on loans from the taxpayer. There is ample money swashing around in football so I would not expect Croydon or Bromley council to help us out bar planning permission.

The same to a lesser extent can be said of ruby Union there is money there also I wonder what the taxpayers of Barnet think.

Its a loan not a gift. I don't know what the repayment terms are or what rate of interest is being charged. Barnet council my see it as a win win. Create jobs, improve the local leisure facilities plus making a decent return on their investment.

The most cost effective solution would always have been to develop the Crystal Palace athletics stadium. No worries about trying to build whilst your team was still playing, no interference from local business (Sainsbury’s et al), no displacement of locals from the area and on the plus side, plenty of time to work up a scheme and the sale of Selhurst Park whilst the new site is being built.

It could have been built as a multi purpose venue and bought a much needed state of the art leisure facility to the area. It didn’t need to be huge, a 40,000 capacity stadium would be fine. South London deserves a ground of this sort of quality.

On the basis that nothing appears to have happened with regard to the main stand rebuild maybe the athletics stadium option could still happen but it would take someone with more drive and significantly more available money than the current board.

This was touted when CPFC 2010 Ltd bought the club 10 years ago when we found out we didn't own the stadium. We don't know what happened as nothing came out of it.

Westfield not happening at all? Croydon is fecked then.

Just regarding Westfield, this was an email I received 12/12/17:

It was always on the cards that Westfield would actually never build the development but would sell with planning permission.

Interesting to see what happens now.

The original plans had a demand in them that Westfield agreed to which was to build a certain number of flats as part of the whole project. Westfield kept delaying and the council kept lowering their demands on the housing until they actually agreed to Westfield building everything and not having to do the housing.

Same person told me that Palace will always get planning permission for Selhurst but it would always be cat and mouse about who caved in to who's demands first. With Westfield out the picture, I think the council will cave in fear of losing Palace from the borough.

I always think the 2011 riot killed the Croydon Westfield project.

It makes sense now that the West Ham stadium is home to athletics so no need to share Crystal Palace. Instead I would offer UK Athletics a training facility next to the rebuilt football stadium something they need far more than a 2 /3 times a year stadium.

The problems though remain the same:

Bromley council will not offer any financial assistance towards the stadium or the transport infrastructure.

TFL will demand sheds loads of money to deal with the increased numbers or just simply to subsidise their own plans which have nothing to do with Palace.

Croydon Council will oppose it because they don't want to lose us from the borough.

The residents will hate it and fight it tooth and nail

The other 3 nearby boroughs will all want something.

In short everybody will have their hand out for a taster and Palace will not want to pay for it either.

So until the politicians and or Parish can compromise the best site for us will continue to crumble.

They are pulling down stewart plastics by ikea now, actually probably down now, that with ikea closing a site already, your idea doesn"t look far fetched, but wouldn"t hold your breath!

Time to start spending money on the internals at Selhurst then.

So we have a misunderstanding on another thread, to which I got a yellow card - I protested my innocence & it got no where.

I then privately messaged you to again state my claim, in good faith and no reply, no acknowledgement.

You then feel the need to respond to this, assuming what age I was at the time, questioning if I was capable of such a thought, with an eye roll!

You added absolutely nothing to thread by doing this, but to stoke the flames of what you feel is a feud, trying to get one up on me??

Very poor form, child like response from a moderator that is here to keep the peace and keep things in order.

Let's remind you of the rules mate

The more i think about it, the more I think selhurst is unsuited to redevelopment. Too much around It holding it back.

I would rather see the athletics ground redone and it would actually feel pretty great being in crystal palace and that park on a warm match day... nice.
