Pure speculation on my part but all I can think of is that the club doesn't have many active directors on the board, it seems just to be Parish really, and I wonder if he just feels that he has to personally focus on one thing at a time, with the academy being the priority?

One would hope that any company director who earns in excess of £2.6m per year would be capable of focussing on more than one thing at a time after all the Prime Minister only earns £158,000 a year and he has to focus on running a whole country

Yes I agree, or as others have said, pay someone else to do it. I've said several times that the club should keep their cards close to their chest on all financial and contractual matters, but it feels increasingly as though there is something significant about the new stand project that isn't being said.

The sad thing is that during the 9 years Palace has been in the Premier League they’ve generated over £1billion of income (I appreciate the difference between revenues and profit btw). Mainly been p**sed away on player wages. I accept this happens in most clubs in our league. Not too many business sectors where this happens, because they’d be bust if they did.

i've not been following the stadium story.

the history for the last 50 has been too hurtful.

somebody please summarise.

is we getting a flash facelift at Selhurst before we all die of old age ? or not ?

The Everton stadium is probably a lot easier. For a start Liverpool City Council has recently been proved to have been corrupt and arrests have been made in the background as well as the Liverpool Mayor now facing prosecution and even possible prison so I have no doubt that all it took for Everton to get their stadium approved was a few postal bags full of 50s dropped round a few council officials houses to get it all agreed and signed off.
We on the other hand are not only dealing with awkward opposition in Sainsbury and a council that does things by the book, we also have Khan for a Mayor thats more interested in spending 18m on News Years eve fireworks displays that no one is allowed to go out and watch!
This is the difference in what we are up against

You clearly don't read the press. Croydon Council are hardly a paragon of virtue and an example of a well run efficient organisation.

Right now the suggestion is that Sainsbury want too much money. The longer we delay the price of land rises and they want more.

I see no willingness on the part of the club to get this done. The ideal time to do this, when no fans were allowed has now passed.

It’s amazing to me but the 1st post on this thread happened 5 years ago. I was so thrilled with our promotion and delighted with our initial survivals in the premiership but over recent years snails have moved faster!!

Guess it depends if you believe that there would be a new stand. I have never been really convinced. Yes we saw a nice video and got plans agreed but to me it always seemed a bit like a property speculator. You have some land and you can't afford to develop it yourself. Do you get planning permission as that makes the land in theory more valuable.

Parish does not have the money on his own to either build a new stand or take the club to the next level and the other owners simply don't seem to be bothered.

The Sainsburys land is not going to be prohibitively expensive, it is a minor sum in the whole scheme of things.

The planning consultation is complete, we know what the restrictions are and what needs to be done to fulfil the requirements of the planning consent.

There is only one possible thing holding this back and it is money or rather a lack of it.

Unless new owners willing to invest in infrastructure join us then I am moving towards the school of thought that this will never happen. Parish may have Palace in his heart however he is holding us back as a club. Not his fault I might add but he is simply not wealthy enough for us to grow.

As far as I'm aware he has said he will step aside for the right owners. The issue is that the US investors want to double the price of the club - in order to double their investment. We're overpriced and they're in no hurry as long as they get a return. We need rid of them, desperately. We need some kind of Sheik or Oligarch who's completely willing to overpay, but, on the other hand, we won't be happy with that.

When Harris and Blitzer invested the reported £100m into Palace 6 years ago, Parish stated that those funds would be ringfenced towards the clubs infrastructure.

You could assume then that the new Academy development was funded - however the fans were asked to donate to that project as an option to having a season ticker refund. You could also assume that the cost of the new stand is more or less covered by the American investment.

So what happened to that investment ? Did the club actually ever see that money ?

Add to that the reported desire by H and B to sell their share of the club...
