No chance of CPP being used for the 2026 Commonwealth Games when there is the Olympic Park elsewhere in the Capital already

City of Liverpool is looking most likely to win the bid for the 2026 Commonwealth games, with Everton being the beneficiaries of the stadium a-la Man City

I also like the idea of the World Expo coming to crystal palace park. The history of crystal palace park should mean it has a high chance of securing the world Expo, thus give more weight to the Commonwealth Games bid.

Therefore if the mayor does get behind this it may have a good chance of winning.

Would be a major coup.

And I'm sure would be worth the wait. Obviously we'd need to undertake temporary works at Selhurst in the meantime but I I'm sure they know one way or another within a couple years. So even if we spend say £10M on Selhurst in that time it won't stop us going joint venture with the Government.

Really hope Kahn gets behind this.

Let it go, it isn't going to happen and are those US investors really going to sit around for another decade plus whilst we do bugger all about the infrastructure, waiting for some pie-in-the-sky idea to crash and burn?

It's a good job the LDA didn't think along the same lines in 2005 when bidding began for Olympics 2012 and Greenwich was still a swamp full of rusty shopping trolleys. Too many people in this country forget what principles our country is built on. Thinking it's too difficult so let's just give up.
Nothing that was ever worthwhile was ever easy.

Many London council tax payers (with the possible exception of West Ham supporters) still feel somewhat aggrieved about the cost of the Olympics, particularly in light of its supposed legacy. It's unlikely in the extreme that London will bid for any more expensive projects in the next 10 years, especially if the ultimate outcome is to provide yet another PL football club with a stadium, and if Sadiq Khan is hoping for more than a single term in office. Also, as already mentioned, the government is actively moving the focus away from London to the 'northern powerhouse', and any major projects are much more likely to be sited there.

They should do it in Nottingham. I wouldn't mind Forest getting a stadium windfall and the area needs a shot in the arm.

I thought it already had significant problems with drugs?

Sainsburys maybe more keen to develop and co-operate than previously thought. They're completely gutting and redoing the warlingam store this Autumn on the inside and almost purchased a site and buildings to completely redevelop an area that would've changed the face of that area south of Croydon. Tesco must be at dilemma stage. Redo nearly every store from the early 90s or gradually or not.

Which doesn't have anywhere near the level of private funding they said they would.

But somehow it would cost more money to scrap it (even though nothing has been started) than go ahead with it.
