Quote Almost half of the top-flight Bundesliga clubs convert standing areas to all-seater configuration by using rail seats. Each metal seat is incorporated within a robust metal frame that forms a waist-high rail for the spectators in the row behind. These seat frames are installed on a permanent basis with the same spacing as standard seats. The frames interlock to form a continuous high-strength rail along the full length of each row. Rail heights vary between 90 and 115 cm.[18] For domestic games the seats remain locked flush between the uprights of each frame, thus providing accommodation and maximum space for standing fans between rows of the waist-high rails. Prior to UEFA games, the seats are unlocked, thus transforming the area into all-seater configuration. After the UEFA game, the seats are locked again in the upright position ready for use by standing fans at the next domestic match. German clubs using rail seats include Werder Bremen, Hamburg SV, VfL Wolfsburg, Hannover 96, TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, VfB Stuttgart, Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund.

Not sure how anyone thinks this would mean we can fit four times the amount of people, when the fold up seats are spaced approx the same distance in width as normal seats.

I'm sure you maybe be able to fit slightly more people in, anyone with info on this please post link.

Safe standing is possible. The aftermath was so stinky that the creation of all seater stadiums was part of the establishment cover up. The police and the fences killed people at Hillsborough.

And let's not pretend, particularly at away games, that people don't stand!

My only issue is a minor one and that is if we were to have safe standing I'd personally rather see it in the holmesdale lower. Think that would raise the atmosphere even more!

Nah, not Holmesdale lower. Arthur Wait lower or Enclosure as it was. Would you longer to get out though until it's rebuilt with better and more exits.

Can't believe how long it takes to get these things done. Bloody councils and their negative approach to anything new yet they must have palace fans within. Can't some of you put in a good word fr Stevie

Says we want to follow the Liverpool model, hopefully they don't squeeze as many seats in, seen some pics of the view fans now get in the upper tier and can't belive they can get away with selling them.

We haven't even submitted any plans yet, so the council cannot be held responsible for the timescale so far.

Just wondered if anyone had any news on this? Is it not true the club submitted a planning application for the Main stand last week? If so are drawings available for public viewing yet?
Anyone know how/if this is progressing?
Seems to have gone a bit quiet.

May have been posted before but this is a link to the planning portal for Croydon council.
[Link]

If it doesn't work go to Croydon Council's web page and search it out.
If I read it right, there are 8 rejected applications for stands. Over what period I don't know.

Does show a fair bit of activity though.

Surely the first 2 digits indicate the year of the application?

I would love a safe standing area for those who want to stand.
Then perhaps I could sit in the seat that I have paid for.

Thanks for that. Looks like its going to be a long and tough road to getting anything approved that everyone is going to be happy with.
I thought Parish was going to enter into discussions (or had done so already) with the planning dept so that when an application goes in we have a pretty good idea of what they'll accept and what they wont.
Or maybe that is whats happened but the council have just bottled it and rejected it anyway!
