Any politician would be a far less popular choice with the majority than the situation is now. Mental proposal.

Why? Millions voted for Cameron. You're saying no choice is better than any choice? I respectfully disagree.

Imagine, President Corbyn!

That's why we are having a EU referendum!!

MEPs are elected by democratic proportional representation. Whilst I'm in the out camp, technically the EU Parliament, is more democratic than the UK government is.

Is there really any reason why the UK as a republic would actually need a president, if they got shot of the Monarch.

We have two houses of government (Lords and Commons). Presumably the role would default towards the house of lords?

I don't think the country would benefit from having party politics dominating both the house of commons and house of lords. Oddly, the House of Lords seems to actually work in the interest of the country, rather than in the interest of government.

However many times you want to post it, that's still nonsense. (the site is f***ed at the moment so I'm not surprised you multi posted)

UK voters get to vote for less than 10% of the EU parliament. That's not more democratic than the UK parliament, that's tokenism.

Well yes, and no. It represents the UK allotment. Granted you don't get to vote on the Italian representatives, but then they don't get to vote of the UK representatives - which seems to be pretty fair to me - as the role of the MEP is to represent the country they are elected from.

Its like saying because I don't get to vote on the MP from Northumberland, and only in my constituency, that the government in the UK is tokenism.

Also, 10% is a fairly large section of the MEPs, given there are 22 (I think member states).

10% isn't a large section when you represent a bigger proportion of the EU population that that, and a far bigger proportion of it's running costs.

Malta (one of 28 current members) has 6 MEPs and represents 0.08% of the EU population.

Really proportional.

I agree that it should be proportional based on the population of the country, with a minimum of one per country. That should definitely change. Each member state should have representation (minimum one) and a number based probably its contribution to the EU financially, or on its population.

Its odd, because I'm an out voter, but I don't think its notably any less democratic than the UK, and that UK MPs to the EU are elected on a more representative basis than the house of commons.

Why are you so against a family that has pretty much no effect upon your life but you'll happily vote for ''parasites'' that do?
Kinda dumb.

Time to move forward together.
