As a close family friend, i have said it before on these boards, he is innocent. Sadly, in this day and age, you can accuse anyone famous of anything and you are guilty and the damage is done.

Problem, is that sounds like every statement put out by family and friends, of people who are then found guilty.

Its hardly a witch hunt high media case, the news coverage is fairly minimal. As far as damage done - has it really done any damage - Fans seem to assume him innocent.

In fact a lot of the stories seem to be about Cliff Richard proclaiming his innocence and how the case is affecting him - and not coming from the victims or the police.

Given the other names on the Elm Guest House list apart from Richards (inc Brittens) there is not a snowball in hells chance he would / will ever be found guilty.

The implications across the corporate, judicial, political, showbiz and ruling elite should allegations against any one of them be proven are catastrophic for all of them . Huge huge can of worms.

Britten killed one police investigation. Hague another and acres of evidence from those investigations has been 'lost' whilst Straw sat on his hands....despite the best efforts of some in the Met to investigate this properly they aren't being allowed to...which is why I suspect they tried to force hands making the swoop on Kitty so public..

It was, but he definitely could have done something about the dossier he was handed in the 80s as well on abuses in West Minster. Definitely the kind of thing you'd follow up on maybe, rather than just forget about for 20 odd years.

The way he was treated in his last days was disgusting but his rather dismissive approach to being handed such information and not paying any further interest in was disgusting as well.

The two issues are separate.

I was referring to the false allegation of rape made against him to highlight a point.

Who said it was? I'm just saying, the bloke is innocent. Still - think what you like, as you said, his true fans still support him, as do family and friends.

The same could have been said and can be still be said, in some cases, of Gary Glitter.

Loyalty is one thing but the facts can sometimes be another.
For the record, I think it is disgusting when a person's reputation is damaged by rumour and unsubstantiated accusation. The police go for the easy and high profile "soft" targets. It looks good for their reputation and helps hide their unwillingness to route out the bad apples among the ruling classes to whom they owe their power.

Not at all.
I'm comparing the attitude of family and friends of someone now know to be guilty before he was found to be guilty.
You rarely find a situation like this where friends and family aren't loyal but they can sometimes be misguided in that loyalty and that was my point.

You deliberately ignored the last part of my post where I said that trashing people's reputation without solid evidence is wrong but if you come on here and claim to be in the know then you must expect a potentially rocky ride.

In my book, Richard is innocent until proven otherwise, end of story.

Harry Webb is a gay Anglo-Indian who became a pop star during times that were socially conservative and turbulent so can understand his desire to be closeted.

His decision to go to the Elm House gay and paedophile brothel was probably not his best ever choice - nor was his selection of mutual 'partygoers' at the time - but Cliff's worst crime I'd think has been The Lord's Prayer.

He'd do anything for an Xmas no.1
