Yes, we do need a Benteke or a Sackho as an alternative for Wickham. Gayle was a fox in the box type of player, so we need to replace that too, which is why I guess Berahino might come in? I may be alone in thinking this but I think both Berahino and Benteke or that type of player may come. We need a target man type player as that is our current way of playing. Benteke I still think will come possibly on loan with a right to buy or fee will become undisclosed (suggesting Liverpool have accepted a lower figure possibly with add ons) Berahino is in my view more uncertain WBA have a number of offers and they play us on the first match of the season (so will they want him scoring against them). Comparing Gayle and Berahino - Gayles's all round play was not upto premiership standards and none of the previous managers have been able to change this. Berahino has a better all round game and scores goals at EPL level. He can I believe play in the Puncheon position score goals play off the big man and create chances both for himself and others. I think if he and his agent have any sense they will speak to both clubs and see where he will fit in best. A lot of that is about the manager and his persuasive powers, I think Stoke's Hughes may have slight edge due to his own football career he may be seen as better at developing him into a full international

Just seen on ssn that cpfc bid for berahino has not been rejected and will only consider selling SB , until replacement found. I also thought that defoe worked well in a one up front formation for sunderland last season, why couldn't berahino play upfront on his own at C palace?

According to that article Bolasie also said that "it was good to see fresh faces coming through the door" I wonder if he would still be thinking that if Andros Townsend took his first team spot and relegated him to the bench

yes he would because players like him are ambitious and want to see new faces even if it affects their chances. because when moves to spurs for bolasie don't happen....they want to see the club they're at...grow. check the stokes chairmen quote regarding berahino and being after that elusive striker ....quite the same as I've typed.

I agree with you Matthau. It says something about his and the club's ambition. Also a very favourable public statement about Berahino's ability and character (good kid who's "misunderstood". If the 2 offers from us & Stoke haven't been rejected its almost as if Bolasie's been given this opportunity to try to persuade his mate to join us.
