It's nothing like the Old Firm.

Celtic and Rangers is nothing to do with football and all about the sectarian divide and communities that have in-bred pathological hatred for each other that goes back for generations. Most people involved in sectarian hate have no interest in football and use it only as an excuse. People born into one of these communities will never leave it or set aside their hate, no matter what, even if their club goes bust and has to start again from scratch with no money, as happened with Rangers. If there were no football, they would find another excuse.

Our position on Seaweed is nowadays simply because they are a bunch of plastics and tourists who don't value the passion, belief and fight that characterises Palace and who think they "ought" to be in the Premier League because they're such a "big club". Seaweed fans will depart for another team the minute Seaweed go down the toilet. This is a bad attitude no matter what the history may be.

It seems that most Brighton fans were as appalled as every other decent person would be.

I was Googling to try and find the details and came across a newspaper article from last month headed
"Police appeal after Crystal Palace fans attack Millwall supporters" stating:-

Police are trying to trace the people in these CCTV images as they investigate an attack by about 15 Crystal Palace supporters on two Millwall fans.

The trouble started on the platform at East Croydon railway station at about 8.35pm on Saturday, April 10.

It seems that every club number cowardly scum amongst it's supporters

That story is 6 years old, A couple of Millwall fans started on some younger Palace lads and other Palace fans helped them and gave both Millwall fans a slap. Was not 15 on 2 only a couple got involved.

I didn't notice the date as it came on top of the Google search and I don't suppose that it will be the first or last time that the press have misrepresented facts to make a juicier story

Hope I am not the ONLY Palace fan who wants Brighton to go up?

The Mullery era is ancient history and if some Brighton supporters hate our guts then, so what. We are Palace and proud and don't need to sink to the Celtic-Rangers pathological level of hatred.

Move on and enjoy our now traditional rivalry and look forward to two hotly contested derbies in the PL next year.

Absolutely no point in sniping at them if we can't prove our superiority ON the field where it counts.

And, by the bye, Chris Hughton is a decent, honourable bloke and I hope he takes them up.

No point in having a rivalry if you don't play your rivals. Although it seems for some on here they are just an object for hatred. The endless homophobic twaddle on here also says quite a lot.

It's not a rivalry, it's simply that I detest that s***ty club and it's awful, wannabe fans. No need to give them the privilege of playing us.

We don't do possession; we do defense and attack. Everything else is just wa**ing with a football.

Nothing of great note on this thread apart from the tedious 'Gay Pride' quip but have a root around the subject historically on here and you'll get the picture.

Plenty of other clubs you could ascribe that to. Why do Brighton upset you so much in particular?

Tedious to you. Entertaining to others.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

Sigh, I'm sure it is. By the way, talking of entertainment, apologies if I interrupted your box set viewing of 'Love thy Neighbour' and 'Mind your language'.

Ah, those were the days. And throw in some Alf Garnett for a proper laugh.
