Personally I'd like to think that the deal is one we can achieve and that we push to get it closed. Show some intent. Or rather show some more intent. I realise we aren't going to pay over the odds, but I don't think that we would be!

I think tomorrow we will have a good indication which way this deal is going. maybe a medical has been done which none of us know about.

How you get out of that, the player is holding out for higher wages, I don't know.

Reading the Liverpool papers it seems that they think we will meet the �30M valuation as we bid over that for the Belgian bloke who has just joined Chelsea . They also refer to Benteke or at least his agent asking Liverpool for a pay rise if he is to stay as a bench warmer . He is reported Liverpools top earner at �140K a week . Its all of course rumour time with the agent trying to get the best deal for his man but it looks like we are in pole position if we want to pay the full asking And we still need a striker

We should just pay the extra �5m they want for him and get the deal done and dusted early doors. If personal terms have been agreed it should be a pretty swift deal. The longer it drags on, teams like West Ham will pinch him from us and we'll be chasing 3rd,4th choice targets again. We've identified Benteke so lets get it done. His agent had a track record of playing these kind of games, week in, week out, when he was at Villa. It destabilized the player in the end and created bad relationships between the club, the player and the fans.

Proven Premiership goal scorers in their mid 20s are a rare breed, so therefore can really name there price. We have gone for second best and older fading goal scorers before. None have turned out well, if you want success, you need to go for the best you can get.

A number will chose so called glamour teams, so it is very difficult to get the right man.
