Other clubs are finding it increasingly difficult to bring in their targets and are apparently refusing to release a player until a replacement is signed. We bucked the trend in releasing two strikers and selling Gayle,probably thinking we would bring in Beneke relatively easily. Negotiations would appear to be far from straight forward and with a shortage of available quality ,it would be a fantastic bit of business for the club if we can get him over the line very soon.

Benteke now joined up with Liverpool in San Francisco. Echo reports palace made an initial bid of £25m which was rejected. Liverpool were told Palace would be making a revised bid but nothing was ever received. So this does seem to be well and truly dead in the water. Talk about holidays and bonus payments etc is wishful thinking.
