Are you suggesting that there aren't any Crystal Palace fans under the age of 16 and regarding your point about any 12 year old knows all about swearing from school are you suggesting that because they have heard the words at school it then becomes acceptable to bandy those same words about on an internet forum.

If that is the case then those same 12 year olds probably know all about sex from school too so should they be actively participating too?

hate to break it to you but kids will be swearing within a week of secondary school

Why is there any need to swear in a conversation

Quite. I swear on occasions, usually when I am angry, but wouldn't normally swear at someone, and don't feel the need to on this site.

Is it that great a hardship, on the odd occasion, to express oneself without resorting to swear words? Using rude and abusive language ultimately detracts from the message and makes you sound ignorant.

What a load of Bollocks!

...or "it is the bollocks". A magnificent example of a double meaning swear word, simply the best.

Most certainly not European.

description, dialect or swearing?

Many replies seem to be based on language used in context. I am unable to get through a game without swearing. I am intelligent. I am educated. I am also from South London (Forton Heef). So I have a mixture of language that literally spews forth on the Holmesdale.

Lets say we miss a sitter.. S**t! I cry.

Now I am definitely describing what I have just seen, sworn and from the verbal reactions around me heard likewise language. Context - terrace.

But we also have a dialectical issue too. In South London and certainly in my house the word 'S**t' is used to describe something brilliant, terrible, woeful, painful, hot, etc... part of our dialect?

I have no point other than language is a funny thing, it changes and it evolves.

Unlike Casual I can't swear at work, I'd be sacked - not because I don't think that someone is a ******* but because it is completely and utterly the wrong setting.

Just saying the filters on here don't protect anyone from learning or using swear words.

There is nothing inherently wrong with using them

Everyone on here knows the words whether there are stars or not

Lets get rid of them.

Free speech!!!

Try reading my post properly before replying to a statement that wasn't actually made or meant

Swearing is great in the right situation ( most actually), I've been walking round a big building site with the builder and an architect or quantity surveyor ( who are really looked upto at their firm ), in a suit. I'm in steel toe caps and casual clothes.
The builders talking to them , then I ask a question and the surveyor tries to put me down with a cutting reply and I go " who the f**k you talking to mate?"( don't even need to swap the mate for c**t), you see the colour drain out of the spineless little c**t. Talk to the people at their work and their wife like they want , then some jumped up tradesman like me fronts them and they melt, the best bit is the 5 second silence that I'm relishing and he's looking for a hole to sink into.
Would never put it on someone that couldn't /shouldn't have to take it, but some of the pompous c**ts that have it all their own way, f**king love it. Get as much out of it as cashing the cheque sometimes.

It would have had an even greater effect if you left out the profanity and said "who do you think you are talking to mate?" as that makes you out to be more intelligent and articulate rather than just another thug.

Yeah because I'm going to have some two bob no mark f**king brummie c**t ( don't say your not from Birmingham because I'm not f**king interested), telling me weather i should swear or not.

Again another example of when swearing could be used. Of course I didn't mean any of it, just thought it fitted in with the context of the thread.

Yet again a more intelligent and articulate person would demand more respect if he said that he didn't need lessons in the English language from a yam yam.
