I wonder if the Islamic Council also advocate "lightly tossing" the gay/lesbian people caught inflagrante off a cliff?

Or "lightly cutting" the necks of young lambs without stunning them first in the practice of Halal Butchery (aka Barbaric Butchery)?

These people are still living in the Dark Ages.

Does tossing someone off, constitute homosexuality. Arguably every single man has been tossed off by a man at some point. Am I gay, because I pleasure myself?

There's a hierarchy of what/who you are allowed to beat and it changes on a regular basis depending on the current fashions.

Right now:

Animals (REALLY bad)
Muslims if you're not one (REALLY bad)
Gays (bad)
Jews (bad)
Women (frowned upon)
Children (it's good for them)
Everyone and everything else (largely ignored)

I'll update you all next year with the official Acceptability of Beating List 2017.

I don't know if I have told this story before, but we had a call with some really top management people a while back (I work for quite a big company that I can't name) and they happened to mention that they had issues about basing operations in countries where homosexuality was still illegal. As a company that makes a big thing about LGBTQ, there was an obvious conflict.

At the level me and my colleague are at, we are pretty much just numbers to this guy, but my colleague asked him what they were doing about it and after a bit of stumbling around his response might as well have been "We're more worried about upsetting Muslims than homosexuals". To which I couldn't help thinking was the right choice, they have a more powerful army.

I do love when these cultural conflicts come up. I'm all for us living in harmony and although I'm not left wing in my views, I don't have believe in taking issue with people because of their religion, sexuality, race etc. But I do take massive joy when a bongo playing lefty in crocs has one of these kind of dilemmas to ponder.

Pragmatic. I bet Charlie Hebdo would have been better off provoking gay people. That said, their circulation would have been a lot lower last year.

So much for standing up for principles.

Do what you like because otherwise you might get violent?

Really?

Well not really, no - it was more of a joke. Taking offence at Hebdo's portray of the Prophet misses the point, that in fact they were portraying the prophets dismay at the use of Islam for murder and oppression.

Its no coincidence that Hebdo out of all those using the 'image of the prophet' was targeted. It offended not Muslims, so much as Islamist extremists.

One of THE great disco songs, sung by a conspicuous brown-hatter.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

Joking about Islamic extremists and showing a lack of knowledge about 70's disco classics all on one thread.

Standards are slipping.
