Well tell this guy. Not only does he want to Box at the Olympics, he wants to fight for another country.

Amir Khan would take anything to patch up his career now its in tatters, even fighting amateurs in the olympics. What a sad act he's become

Yeah...I think the quotes need to be given some context in that at the time they were made (i.e. last year) it wasn't a done deal and he was actually in the country doing promotional work for his foundation.

The key bit (and get out) is here "...and if I am permitted as per rules and by my promoter then I would love to compete for pakistan..."

You might have to remind Haye the opponent will try and win and hasn't been bought

Apply this rule to all current Olympic sports:

Is an Olympic Gold Medal the pinnacle achievement in your sport?

If no - shouldn't be an Olympic event (e.g. Tennis).

For amateur boxers it is. For professional boxers it isn't.

I think it was Carl Froch who believes that top amateur boxers could beat pro boxers because the latter can take time to get going whereas the former are used to quick 3 rounders. He said it took him time to get into fights and came on stronger later on.

He added that he spars with Antony Fowler who has just qualified for the Olympics and for 2 or 3 rounds he doesn't get near him.He said someone like Fowler would probably beat him over the short distance.

On a separate issue, men will no longer be wearing headguards in the coming Olympic games.

Agreed. That is the whole point of the Olympics.

It used to be. Now the point appears to be maximising TV and advertising revenue by getting in as many marketable pros as possible.

It's not that simple is it.

If you're an NBA winning basketball player on millions, it probably isn't. If you're a Lithuanian playing euro league and earning sod all, it probably is.
