What ever happened to that old maxim "If you've nothing nice to say, don't say anything."

This is a thread about the death of a great sportsman FFS.

He's not even buried yet!

This should be a thread for tributes - if you want to discuss his morals, politics, religion, etc start a new thread in a few weeks time, ie have a bit of respect.

Errrr no.

This is a public forum for debate. If people can air their tributes then people who didn't like his racist separatist views can air comments as well.

Out of a request I stopped commenting yesterday but it really is a form of censorship to tell people when you think it's alright to comment and what is respectful.

If people want a tribute only thread then that's something that's got to be set up specifically under that agreed understanding.

He made so many quotes he was going to contradict himself a bit somewhere.

Barry Mcguigan's programme shown now and again on ITV4 I think is worth a view if anyone doesn't know how great and adaptable he was to win the big fights vs Foreman and Fraizier.

It's telling that those that actually knew him across the board don't have a bad word to say about him; only praise. Yet some of those that didn't know him can't wait to put the boot in for views he may or may not have truly believed in nearly 50 years ago.

He sounded like a lovely fella in all honesty from the stories so far.
