Town Hall Gardens for Central Park and West Croydon for Greenwich Village. Well, nothing's impossible... Ha ha, you never know! Yes, i was thinking central Croydon, two very high lift shafts have appeared opposite east croydon station and look like the twin towers if you are walking up crown hill, but i must admit, been walking in selhurst and t heath in past few weeks during the day, not palace day, and did think it was looking like a real dump! But central croydon will be the place to be in 5 years, if you don"t get ambushed in selhurst on route! I always wear a stab-proof vest and crash helmet on my way to games at Selhurst Park. I kept them for home matches against Millwall but I didn't dream that they'd be as useful as they are in these enlightened times!

look what's happening in and around Purley including Riddlesdown and such like. People are selling their back gardens and corner plots are being bought for silly money by developers to build flats, all in in residential roads where there are enough people and cars already. It's upsetting a lot of people. It's called infilling and its not just happening in those areas but all over London - there are simply not enough homes. The best thing to stop the infilling and building on greenbelt is to build upwards. Purley high street is a sh1t hole that badly needs investment. If they built a new block of flats, that on the whole look a lot more aesthetically pleasing than the ones that were being built 10 years ago, then it's going to help the area improve and attract new businesses who might look after the area rather than keep it in the state it's been in for far too long.

By the way, jubilee gardens aren"t central park, but walking through the revamped wandle park, with the croydon skyline in the background, does have the feel of central park, and the joggers around the perimeter,and people doing yoga classes and exercise,does have the central park look, croydons changing, for the better!

It seems that a very good natured lunch was had by the powers to be, mp, council, business leaders and building companies, lots of port was flowing, gifts exchanged, palms crossed, and everybody was very happy indeed!Great to see we are not living in a socialist state and business can flow freely, pity the locals with the noise and traffic pollution for a few years, and maybe a few years after that if phase two pops up, but think of the profit these people are making, thats what counts surely?

Nearly correct Rudi, the locals in the East Croydon also get the train to Gatwick on their hols, Purley is now chav town, no different to sutton, on a night!

Yes, I'm afraid a jovial evening of Tapas in Las Fuentas followed by a shed load of beers in Elliots as it used to be when Paul was alive is a dim and distant memory. They still have some decent live music in the Jolly Farmers on ocassion, er, well they used to anyway.
