Err...this isn't quite accurate. Sako was in the championship team of the season and scored a lot of goals. He's not a good footballer but he did well in the league below. I don't think anyone however optimistic could say that Robson Kanu would be a very good singing. He's a bit like Doyle.

Perhaps he looks better if your upside down ?

Seriously he looks just like the type of player we will eventually sign, dirt cheap and hopeless.

Plenty of our players have been described like this. Damo, Ward, Ledley even Bolasie.
Conversely plenty of others have proved to be not up to it. The aforementioned Kebe, Sako (it seems so far), Williams seems to be going this way (unfortunately).
There is always a risk when signing a player. Even if we got Benteke he might be just as rubbish as he was for many games last season.
I believe Hal Robson Kanu has a decent mentality and is pretty versatile and would be a decent squad player. Probably not a main starter unless he proved himself. We wouldn't have much to lose really.

Damo, Ward, Ledley even Bolasie.

These players excelled in the championship, HRK did not. Be absolutely gutted if we sign him, worse the what we have in Frazier Campbell and would be an obsolute waste of money (we would end up giving him 3 yr contract and be stuck with him for ages). Would much rather his place goes to Anderson / Ludapo.

Signing him would purely be for the sake of it. MASSIVE BACKWARDS STEP.

None of these set the world (even the lower leagues) alight before we signed them. They could all have been described as Championship at best before they came here - as Hal is being described as now.
I don't see the worry about him - he seems a real trier like the guys mentioned above. He will probably command some kind of fee if it doesn't work out too. There are at least two or three other clubs of our level interested. Presumably their scouts know something.

Damo - bit of a punt - worked out well
Ledley - Always been good player - wasn't a risk
Ward - V good at pompey and a young prospect - wasn't a risk
Bolasie - Young guy we took a punt on and obviously worked out well - no riks

All of these would of been on low wages aswell. Off the back of the EUROS he will be looking for decent wages.

HRK - is a 1 in 8 striker (as he has proved all his 27 years), we have centre halves who can almost do that in the premier league so why buy a striker with a record like that all in the lower leagues. What makes you think he can do it in the premiership?

Also, his move to Hull (who have no players) fell through so why the hell would we want him?????

Hindsight is great isn't it. Why the beef with Hal Robson Kanu? Doubt we will be matching our highest wages for him. We should have freed up plenty by getting rid of some of the dross we had on our books who were Championship at best - Marriapa springs to mind. Was there no risk there?
We also paid Chamack 40k a week - was there a risk there? He seemed fine for a while.

Just feel that we already know he cant score goals in the championship so bother wasting our time with him. We don't know if our youngsters are good enough so would rather they got a shot.

I know that may sound a little big headed but we really have moved on. If we are going for a championship striker it should be for a young one with a good record, not an old one with a terrible record.

Nevertheless he has experience and can play on the wings. He would be on a free so wouldn't be a massive risk. Someone made a fair point about still having to pay his wages.
I too would like to see youngsters coming through but just doesn't seem to be Pards' style. I believe Kaikai deserves a chance as he is probably just as good as plenty of other players. If it was me I would give Dreher a run out but (queue the FM comments), again, I don't see it happening unless there is some kind of injury crisis (touch wood).

I think he is worth a punt...no transfer fee and probably realistic wages, it's not as if we are taking a risk with millions of £'s going out. GIVE THE GUY A CHANCE!

At least there hasn't been a transfer scuttled by Transfer Talk on the HOL that I am aware of yet. Would be humorous to find that Kanu wouldn't come because somebody on the HOL slagged him off.
