Thought he's had a terrific Euro's. Wales' best player tonight against Belgium, a free agent too. He can run the channels and hold up the ball. He might end up not being first choice but he'd be great competition, substitute as either a striker or winger.

The reality is that if Frazier Campbell was Welsh he'd start ahead of Robson Kanu.

Yes, he wasn't released and yes he isn't s**t. But Reading fans are hardly crying over his decision to run down his contract and when we need upgrades he is not the sort of player we should pursue unless we're absolutely desperate. I'm hoping ahead of this season we have lined up quality to compete for a place up top.

Agree. 1 cruyff turn doesn't equal a premier league contract.
Wales had 3 of ours at the euros , I don't expect any of them to be in the starting eleven next season.

For the umpteenth time he chose to run his contract down. He wasn't released.

He has been brilliant for Wales, not just in finals but the qualifiers too. I don't know if he is good enough for the PL but he isn't s*** either.

Yes he allowed his contract to expire. But he isn't good enough. He has been ok for Wales, doing a relatively thankless task up front, but anyone describing his performances for Wales as brilliant is (with a very small number of exceptions) stretching it very very thin.

I know it's uninspiring but let's face it we are desperate... We are 4 days away from the new season and we have one... ONE recognised striker!!

He's free, his wages won't be mental and he's no worse than Campbell... In fact I would say he's a slight upgrade on Campbell... Why not I say.

It's a difficult call. Don't envy the decision making on this one.

I agree, upgrade on Campbell and will be free. Squad player?

Reminds me of the sako deal last season. Why have we left yourselves desperate. If he doesn't improve the team, then don't bother. 3 goals in 28 last season for reading. Please palace buy victor moses back.

Maths has never been my strong point, but when I read that Palace are selling Bolasie to '' fund '' a bid for Benteke, I ask myself where has all our money gone ?

Our transfer fee outlay is a net £9m ( £23m out on Tomkins, Townsend and £14m in Gayle and McCarthy ). Or have I missed something ?

While I think taking top money for Bolasie right now is good business, should we need to be reliant on getting that deal done ?

As for Robson-Kanu, file under Campbell, Sako etc.

While we're about it, what's Aaron Wilbrahim up to these days ?

Whats that ? pannick buying as Selhurst ? surely not, we haven't left ourselves open to that again have we ?

Yes we have.

Disgraceful. In as much as Kanu isn't fit to clean Gayles boots.

Do you think SP and co are currently sat on a beach sipping long island ice tea?

It isn't as simple as just bidding for players - The Berahino deal from WBA can't happen until they bring someone in. Similar permutations will be in play with most players, especially when you're trying to do deals domestically. Clubs don't want to weaken their position and strengthen the competition in one move. Or like Liverpool, they want to wait til the last possible moment to try and extract the most amount of cash out of you (personally I think he'll end up on loan somewhere in Europe).

You'd imagine we're trying to get the striker deal done before; a) accepting anything on YB b) tying up other deals, like the Badu suggestion (who would be an upgrade on the Ledley/Jedi options)

But just because you're playing a waiting game for players like SB/CB you don't go and buy Hal Robson bloody Kanu. He's not worth a shake, let alone a contract. Be patient and aim higher, please.
