No one ever doubted his ability to score goals, the problem was he didn't fit into our set up (under numerous managers) as a lone striker.

And yes, we could have played 4-4-2 but we'd basically survived under Pulis and Pardew on the basis of two defensive midfielders.

We needed a more 'all round' outlet, sadly.
