And perhaps,as in the 1930's, a Viscount Rothermere will write another article titled "Hurrah for the Blackshirts" along the lines of the following in the Daily Mail:

...he praised Mosley for his "sound, commonsense, Conservative doctrine". Rothermere added: "Timid alarmists all this week have been whimpering that the rapid growth in numbers of the British Blackshirts is preparing the way for a system of rulership by means of steel whips and concentration camps. Very few of these panic-mongers have any personal knowledge of the countries that are already under Blackshirt government. The notion that a permanent reign of terror exists there has been evolved entirely from their own morbid imaginations, fed by sensational propaganda from opponents of the party now in power. As a purely British organization, the Blackshirts will respect those principles of tolerance which are traditional in British politics. They have no prejudice either of class or race. Their recruits are drawn from all social grades and every political party. Young men may join the British Union of Fascists by writing to the Headquarters, King's Road, Chelsea, London, S.W."

I agree. The political door is ajar and opportunity knocks. Oswald Mosley #2

If Britain goes to the right there won't be any black shirts or swastikas in sight. Just a lot of middle Englanders using democracy to be heard after being ignored for years.

Agreed. They won't wave swastikas or wear black shirts. But the sentiments and underlying mindsets (updated for the 21st century) will likely show a linkage if you look closely underneath back to aspects of the mindset of the BUF and their sympathisers in the 1930's.And their concept of "democracy" might not be too dissimilar to Mosley's either.

This sounds like a whole lot of meaningless rhetoric to me.

History is doomed to repeat itself

Would rather we were the good guys when it does like before.

Gawd imagine if someone like Britain First actually had a Farage-like figure as their leader and some serious money behind them and became respectable.

One interprets history as one interprets everything else. In your case, with red spectacles.

I never understand the desire by some to put their rigid ideologies over common sense. It baffles me.

You have clearly learned nothing from the referendum result.

You are perfectly entitled to your opinions and one of the beauties of our society is we can all freely express differing views, but do bear in mind that there could be those who might see your pronouncements as themselves a prime example of a person spouting his rigid ideology over commonsense...and wearing spectacles of a colour which are cutting out a clear line of vision...

Just an opinion...

True, but as I have said before, I don't have an ideology beyond putting the interests of my family first. All other considerations come a distant second.

In the broad sense maybe but I always try to have my own opinion based on observation and not someone else's.

This isn't a criticism just a question but doesn't that make your views rather limited though? If you only base your opinion on what you observe then you only see the relatively small area around where you work, reside, holiday etc.

If you mean by observing what appears in the media then you, as well as everybody else, is open to be misled by the said media.

Also, for some reason, the vision of Farage leading Britain First reminded me of Roderick Spode.
