Jerry Maguire, may have worked just as well with another lead but enjoyed him in it.

I think (hope) that young TUX had his tongue in his cheek (fnarr fnarr).

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

And there was me hoping the thread's title sentence would be followed by: accident in which he drowned. Or something like that. But, hey ho.

If you come to a fork in the road, take it.

Its much better than I thought. He's ok in it, like he's pretty much ok in most films he's in, but I don't think he is capable of giving the kind of performances that make a movie better, or worse. A safe hands actor - not bad, not great.

I don't think he actually has ruined any films either, they're probably s**t for much bigger reasons than having Tom Cruise in them. Same as his 'great films' are films which would have been just as good with someone else in them.

...i worked on that & it was (somehow) much better than we thought it would be too. You can spot me in a Palace scarf on the making of if you look carefully.

As for Tom Cat... my preconceptions of him completely changed - he treated every crew member with respect (and amazing food), was up for a laugh & was pretty impressive to see in action.
He does all of his own stunts (he was 51 at the time) and is probably the hardest working blokes I've ever seen. He cared about every aspect, right down to the smallest detail.

I've also heard stories of him being a C-unit but you can only judge on what you've experienced first hand in my opinion.
