JC - someone pointed out how he kept us in the old second division, so true, many clubs fall through the trap door and disappear for a generation - west brom, wolves, stoke - great clubs who still are some way off what they once were - clubs can become dangerously disconnected - we were really poor from about 83 to 86 - His Majesty Lord Jimbo the Magnificent to give him his proper title stopped us suffering what happened to those clubs (20/25 years not 3 years of sh*te). Once they do up the ground they've got to name one stand after him - total hero, like to see how he's thriving these days, don't see him back at Selhurst often enough.

Michael Hughes. For attitude and hunger to succeed.

Agreed was very good. Love him for this..

Not the greatest advert for football but hey.

GT I'm old enough to remember JC not though. I loved MH.

Paddy Mc steered a team through troubled waters when it was on its knees lets not forget it. Lots of great captains Jedi included, to name one neither gives credence to the side nor its space it occupied at the time.

You could say Paddy Mc did as well, because he did!

Doesn't Jogn "Shovel" Sewwll deserve something? Without him we would never have got into the top division to start with.

Despite my admiration for JC I think he carried "baggage" at least according to Stan Collymore.

By that metric Steve Kember deserves an honourable mention. Excellent example of a Palace legend that stood by us through thick and thin.

J.C takes the crown, and Jedi certainly will always be up there.

Agree with Jim Cannon & Steve Kember both influential and class players. Modern day has to be Jedinak.

As someone who bangs on about Johnny Byrne as our greatest player I must speak up for his captain the late great Johnny McNichol.

He played a major part in bringing Byrne on and commencing our climb out of the doldrums. He was a quiet man but inspirational as both wing half and full back in his 5 years at the club.

lo Selhurst silva felix, lo Selhurst cara nutrix, viget, vigeat, vigebit! Best team:- Jackson; Gilbert, Evans, Cannon, Sansom; Hughes, Kember, McNichol; Byrne, Holton, Wright.
