Signings have to come within our transfer budget. A double swoop for Benteke and Berahino would be amazing but not for the best part of £70m - that is pulling our pants down and I'm sure would blow the budget. Unless the owners thought that it was worth, say, putting the stadium development back by a year or so to bing in players like that. It would at least give us the goals we so desperately need.

Establishing yourself as a proper Premier League club also means owners and chief execs building a reputation for credibility and therefore negotiating power.

Prolific spending that far outweighs your turnover is either a sign of being owned by a billionaire or panic.

Leave Mr Parish to this; the man doesn't let us down.

If the Benteke deal doesn't happen then it will be for good reason. We shouldn't have our pants taken down by anyone.

I couldn't have said it any better, nicely put

Yeah, we used to hear that sort of tough talk from Jordan and he was cheered to the rafters by some for supposedly not having his "pants taken down" by agents. Meanwhile other teams were signing key players and eventually those teams went marching past, whilst having a quick snicker at us lying in the gutter. We either fight the world (again) and lose or we go with the flow and, for the price of swallowing a little pride, reap the bigger rewards. I know which I'd prefer.

A very peculiar and hysterical response to what I said.

My only response is to say we have had continued growth under Parish that we did not have under Jordan. There is no comparison whatsoever.

We went to an FA Cup Final the other month in case you missed it.

So do tell me what the panic is?

Good points, or wetting them as supporters if complex deals from seemingly lower negotiating levels don't come off.

Wouldn't Prem league survival and healthy cup runs with accompanied TV rights bring in more finance for the club compared to more backsides on seats for home fixtures? Strike force has been our achilles heel however I baulk at extortionate transfer figures at the same time. (Ermmm...just many hospitals AND staff and schools AND staff can you get for Benteke's £30+m?)

Does anybody know how much cash in the bank we have?

TV Money according to the papers has mega millions coming in
2013/14 £73m
2014/15 £75m
2015/16 £72m

The squad seems to have cost around £75m and are pretty much worth as much

The point I'm making is that we can afford to continue to buy £10m players to improve the squad , then swap £10m players for £20m players over time.

I trust Mr Parish to do this without bankrupting the club.

Benteke is probably worth £32m compared to Berahino who after a bidding war is worth £25m.

Players joining Palace are hardly likely to rave about the state-of-the-art training facilities or the fantastic changing rooms are they?

Today's footballers view it as a relatively short career and mainly focus on wages and length of contract which, I can't blame them for and anything else is a bonus, although I believe that our support especially when the team are playing s---e (which, of course is as common as rocking horse s---e) does play a part in their decision making process or if it doesn't perhaps they should be made aware of it! Or in more simple terms we are a patient lot when watching live.

Whether or not we get a mega signing in this window I'm confident our future will be secure under SP's direction. Committed, caring and communicative.

Well, we do need a couple of PL quality strikers in the next couple of weeks preferably, but the Board and Pards know that better than anyone, and obviously be trying harder than anyone to sort this out, and the striker market right across the PL seems more or less paralysed at the moment, so many deals depending upon so many deals...

Id rather pay £35m for Benteke than £20m for Berahino. One will fit our system one won't.
