Basically Regan is responsible for the rise of Neo-Conservatism in US (and the adopting of monetarism in the US, similar to Thatcher in the UK). Arguably the death knell for reasonable Republicanism, with the rise of the ideology of the popularist Republicanism.

Not to mention being condemned as a State Supporter of Terrorism for the support of the Contras, Reganomics also ripped a very large swarth through the US system and job security.

Also was involved in some very questionable dealings with Iran, not least 'not knowing' that his government agencies were selling weapons to Iran (who may well have won the election for him, by resolving the Iran Hostage Crisis that the Carter administration had royally f**ked up).

Not actually so much a bad president, but a very myopic one.
