A good call. I would certainly prefer him over Berahino and surely a better option up front than Campbell and Wickham.

Let's keep the ball this season!

Where on earth do you think Walcott would fit into the system favoured by Pardew ? Up front on his own ?
Cannot see him being effective in the style we deploy.

And does one seriously think that Walcott would be interested in coming to our club on a permanent contract ? We really have to be realistic - we are not that big an attraction compared to other clubs here and abroad.I know this sounds negative but I am trying to be realistic.

Allow me to be even more 'negative' (realistic); I'll be amazed if any of the so-call 'big' names, we're supposedly linked with, actually sign for us. I'm fully prepared for a bit of a disappointment at 11 p.m. on 31st August.

You say unrealistic but you don't see any bigger clubs coming in for him. Not that any of us know if he's for sale or loan.

Who would have thought at the beginning of the transfer window we would have been so heavenly linked with Benteke.

As for if he can play as a striker he has never been given that role for any length of time has he.

If he's so hyped up how did he make the England team? Don't get there on hype alone

I personally would love him to come but doubt he will. Prefer him as our striker to Wickham or Berihino, different player to Benteke.

Maybe a loan if he's not gonna get game time at Arsenal.

You don't seriously think he'd join us if we were the last football club on earth, do you? The whole Benteke thing is just a huge pile of BS unless he signs, so no conclusions about our attractiveness can be drawn from that. If a place in the England team is a measure of quality, then God help football! And finally, he's a winger, the only place he's a PL quality centre forward is in his own head.

This thread shows that there are neglected players out there. The question has to be asked is why are they neglected - not good enough or too far down the pecking order?

We need AP to identify the good enough neglected players - Jaimie Vardy was in that category before joining Leicester.

Quality spotting for Palace has to be slow and careful (we should not identify new players for Chelsea) and could be over six to nine months.

Agreed, but the process should have started well before 6-9 months ago when it was clear to everyone that we were short of real quality options up front. If it started 4 weeks ago (and I'm not suggesting it did) it shows a complete lack of foresight.

I'm in agreement as well.

I think we'll end up very disappointed at the end of August. I live in hope though.

What was Wenger thinking, sending Walcott on that early?

That's the thing about Arsenal, they just try and walk it in.
