I have got suits when passing through Asia, but there is a company which is based in Hong Kong but has people who design you a suit here and then get it made in Asia.

They do tours and come to London quite often. Have a clear idea of what you want, an appointment doesn't cost anything and you can get one made for around £300 if I remember right.

I've used them before - they advertised in the FT and a couple of other papers I think. Worked out pretty well. Wasn't too expensive (think I paid around £500) but got a decent suit out of it, plus a spare pair of trousers.

Agree other posters. Trywhitt on-line with tapering by your local dry cleaner who employs a little woman to do alterations if you are not likely to wear it again regularly. Otherwise...

The Bar are almost required to wear bespoke suits. This is fine if you have a successful practise or lots of private money. However, if you do not or are just starting out, half the Bar used to get their whistles cut at some Bubble on the Kings Cross Road. I have no idea if it still there, but they used to do fine business suits at a fraction of Savile Row extortion.

I am aware this is north of the River...

Luck of the draw, but try John Lewis online.
They reg.clear their stock.
I usually get a Ted Baker whistle reduced from around £600 to £250 at least once a year.
Or their own brand Kin (if you are slim) or J.Lewis & co. for around £250.
Otherwise Paul smith off peg around £700.
Or spank a credit card .
(good luck anyway!)
