For full on irony they should have sung Neil (The Jazz Singer)Diamond's "Sweet Palestine" doo doo doo.

The worst part is Guardian readers supporting the act and rushing out to buy Celtic shirts.

All we need now is those who don't approve, to perpetuate sectarianism by wearing Rangers kits.

We're not talking St Pauli or Dulwich Hamlet.

Fair play to the green brigade. Have raised over £100k for charities that help Palestinians matching the fine given to the club by Uefa

They haven't been fined as yet. How about they pay the fine for the club too when they are?

Best comment on this i've seen:

Why should Israeli football players be subjected to this? They are not the government. Sport should be above politics. Celtic’s opponents, Hapoel Be’er Sheva, are an excellent example of Jews and Arabs coexisting in Israel.

One suspects it's more aimed towards Israeli media who would no doubt have been covering the game, rather than the opponents.

One suspects that you, like them, are clutching at straws.

They're just attention seeking idiots. Do it in Israel if you want the attention of the Israelis and their media.

Would take some balls to go to Israel and start waving around Palestinian flags. Whether you believe in the cause or not.

I'm not a fan of either side of the stupid sectarian debate by the way.

I would think think that the aim was twofold. It probably was intended to show solidarity support for the Palestinian cause, which is oppressed by the state of Israel.

But secondly it is also intended to partly intimidate the Israeli players.

They're not making a point, they're being deliberately antagonistic as per usual.

These are the same people who would, and probably still do, support the IRA.

The IRA has a long history with the PLO and PFLP in Palestine (along with ETA and FARC).

I remember supporting the concept of someone waving a confederate flag if they wanted to.

Freedom of speech, let them fly whatever flag they want to but they have to deal with the consequences.

Spot on. They don't give a monkey's about the Palestinians really, just about getting noticed.
